OK, what shall we do about September. I hear that there is some lack of enthusiasm for NCCAR, but that course turned out to be pretty good for the PM course. It is a bit of a drive for some, but it is way closer than the SCCA event at Summit Point WV. Where's the love of the excitement of Rally-X?

A scheduling conflict prevents moving the event closer to Raleigh, so we are faced with either loosing an event or returning to NCCAR. Let's have a discussion on use of NCCAR as I would prefer not to haul all the way to WV for a September event, but I'm not sure that I can wait until October?

If no one is interested in the haul to NCCAR are there any folks interested in making a pilgrimage to Summit Point for their 2 day school/rally-x? Perhaps this could be made into a group camp-out.

Do you have a link to info about the Summit Point event? Google has failed me for some reason.

I'm up for NCCAR, but attendance was way down for that one so we'd have to take a poll to see if it was just that weekend or the location.

If lots of people want to try NCCAR again, I'll go set it up and we'll run there. If I don't see enough interest, we'll skip September and just run the last two at Wilson.

So if you're interested (or not), post your comments about the last one, and why we should or shouldn't try it again.

I wasn't at the first one, so I don't know anything about how great or crappy it was.

as long as the course is not so slow again.. i like fast courses.. i could try again.. someday we will find another course as good again. Right now we are fighting motor mount issues.. but eventually we will figure out how to make them last. maybe even take wrx up to summit point.. not rough there is it.

The nature of the NCCAR field is (to the best of my recollection) reasonably smooth with many small broken roots in the not-used areas, not many stones. For the last event the staff had passed word to the event chairs to try to use as much of the existing motorcycle "track" as possible for our event, so the morning course turned out to be far too tight for fun in several places. Believe it or not motorcycles have smaller turning circles than cars. We could imagine a swarm of cycles racing footpeg-to-footpeg through those turns but we had trouble. In the afternoon we took some liberties with the real estate and created a pretty fun course. There was room for 3 long sweepers, a back straight with some rolling bounces (really couldn't call them jumps unless one was really off line). The soil seemed reasonably compacted and rutting was minimal, but it had been dry for more than a week. The soils that were most loose were more compact than the sandy parts of the BMW Farm and the most firm parts were just a bit softer than the big tire squealing clay turn about mid-way through the BMW Farm. The bumps were considerably less than many bumps that we have successfully used at BMW Farm - there were no "air time" bumps or jumps.
My only concern with this site would be in the event of rain. I believe that the newly disturbed soil could turn to deep mud if we got much rain, of course this could be said for most of our rally-x sites. On the plus side there is no grass to mow before we set the cones. There were some complaints about dust, but that sort of comes with racing in dirt. We had lots of dust at Wilson...and one complaint about it from a near neighbor.
If the club can negotiate an escape clause for rain/muddy conditions I would endorse another trip there.

One more item...could we send a broadcast email to past entrants since it appears that the forum is not a favorite hangout for many of the rally-x faithful....(we do have faithful, don't we?) (yes I are one)

The club cannot worry about 1 person's conflicts.

while I understand that ... I was simply inputting my information in to the process. If you do not like it, that is unfortunate.
