We need your help to repair ruts from previous rallyxes. Should be starting around 9 or 10 am, ending whenever. If you can't be here the whole day, but you can come for a while, we don't care - just show up. Reply here if you're coming.

Thanks.

Oh, and bring a shovel.

So can we use, uh, mechanized tools... to help the process along?

I was thinking 3000 lb silver ditch adjusting tools myself! :D

I more likely can help on Sunday -- Saturday I've already got people lined up to help move.

Vincent has a rental box blade reserved to try out. If it works well we plan to buy one, and have it on the tractor at the event for lunchtime course smoothing :)

Anyone know of a CHEAP used box blade for sale? Northern has new 450lb ones for $300!

Looks like the course, grid and pit areas will be "finished" tonight, so all we'll need to do on Saturday is smooth out some ruts. Of course, we'll have to make some fresh ruts, too - so we can test the old rut/ new rut smoothing scenarios and compare results.

I'll be going to Knightdale during my lunch break today to check out some used mowers for our tractor. I'll let you know what I find.

So, Mike Winn - how soon do you need your mower, and what kind of arrangements have been made to get it back to your place? It's currently attached to the tractor, but after Peter & I figure out some stuff tonight we should be sweeping it off & removing it.

Later.

The cheap used mower was gone, and the more expensive one isn't worth the money.

They do have some nice new mowers that are around $800, though...

I think we need to have a discussion about this on Saturday.

It was a very productive day. We found out that the box blade works pretty well, it just needs a little help to dig in...

Modifications were made by Dustin Frederickson.

Also found out that with repairs to my family's mower it will work great, so we don't need to buy a new one - just need to fix the old one. :D

Thanks to all these people for coming to help:

...and with that added modification I think Dustin has created the official Rally-X Zamboni. Now all we need is a show during halftime while Kevin smoothes the ice...er dirt...while the rest of us eat lunch. :)
