I really feel that the extra $10.00 should be for a second fun run in the morning & and afternoon and not gamble on a timed run. I am willing to pay for that to support the club. For those of us that are some what new ( myself and my son included) running our first season, it would enable us to have some more practice on driving the course. Hey, I run to have fun and to try to beat my son's times....LOL. But on the other hand the one's that "chair" the event with setting it up do have a advantage of running it the day before to see if it works and rightfully so and earned. I am aware that the set up is open for club members to help also, but not all of us can do it for various reasons. I propose that that the "chair" people that set it up be open to one fun run and the entries for the meet on race day have the option to run two fun laps at optional cost. As a former member of SAAC & Mustang Club of America that has run street legal rallies, track time, and the shows that I have been all involved with, I know it all has ( and should ) to be presented to the governing body of THSSC for the changes that can benefit the club and keep it's long history alive and continue to grow. Let's just run the BMW for points as it was and is and during the off season discuss some changes that can benefit the club and attract new rally x members for 2012.

Eric Stegmann for VP!!!!!!!!!

step up and assume your position Sir.

i must admit, i didn't get the whole "if you don't beat your time" thing when i first read it but as i suspected it is a penalty. lay out 5 hard earned dollars in a wager that benefits THSCC either way but bones the competitor if they stumble?

not something i can get behind Kourosh. hell, why not just add 22 more cones to the course? same thing.

I don't think it's going to screw anybody who doesn't deserve it. If you have two good runs and a really bad one, then you obviously want to spend the extra $5 to replace the bad one. If you suck bad enough on the rerun that you can't get your money's worth, then too bad. You deserve to fail. :P

More importantly, the event chair sets the rules; you wanna set up your own scheme then chair your own event :-)

You Sir, are obviously "high" on your horse as to your reply. The extra $ 10 ( am & pm ) should be applied either of two ways. First, proposal would be for a second practice ( fun run ) lap. Better yet, running 4 timed laps and throwing out the the slowest one including a DNF. What are you talking about ? Running to the bus and and putting down 5 bucks after a bad run ? Your attitude sucks big time. Unfortunately in the clubs rally cross the classes can not be broken down as far as engine displacement, turbo vs. non turbo. The playing field needs to be leveled out somewhat. Are you afraid of that ? Yeah, This is my first full season to this form of racing and I have a lot to learn. But it is people like you that that makes me very aggressive to shut them down in time. Been there done it.

baaaaaaaahahahahaah. Eric that remark Kevin made was directed squarely at my post and my awesome driving -ness.

what you will hopefully soon learn here (2 posts :stick: ) is the banter gets heated but rarely taken personally.

the good news at least for you is that you have Kevin pretty much figured out.     :poke:

gentlemen,

thanks for all of the input and such.

this was no way meant to rile things up, but oh well. lol

so the whole reason behind the $5 extra timed run was to help the club as much as we can, and also to make it a little bit more fun out there since sometimes folks seem to have 5 great runs and 1 that could have made them get a trophy. you dont have to pay extra if you have 3 good runs in the morning. the same with the afternoon. but say you get a DNF, throw in $5 and run again. odds are you're going to get a "better than DNF" run. but it can also go the other way as well. you want to try to beat your slowest but instead you go even slower... well then thats the time you'll get.

like i mentioned. if it was a non-points, id be all for $5 per second removed from your time, or $5 per second added to a competitor. but since its a points race, and we all know kevin allen will get sacked with seconds, we cant to that. (or maybe we can since he doesnt run for points :) ). at least with a $5 option, everyone has an even playing field and has the chance to better their time (or worsen).

if you just want more seat time, save your $5 and do fun runs at the end. or do both, pay us $5 for the club and still do fun runs.

i understand your concern about not having enough seat time and i know most people cannot make it on a saturday to the setup events, but thats why we have the fun runs after the event. They used to be $1 per run. no one really does it now, i dont know why. when it was $1 they did, but now that we offer it for free while we take care of the bus stuff, no one is doing it.

i hope its not too confusing. i feel like im replying to all of the posts in this one post.

either way. if it becomes a big hassle and majority dont like it, then we'll just run our normal events. which btw is NO fun run and just a course walk. we're doing this stuff to get away from the serious side of competition and make it fun and even for everyone. we've gotten nothing but positive remarks after we started doing 1 fun run before each session.

and if we get some positive remarks for this $5 thing, who knows, maybe the future VPs will implement that. it'll be another great way of bringing in some more money for our program.

its all for fun. if you dont like it. we'll try to work with you, or tell you to goto the DC region rallyXs :D

We were discussing that at BWW last weekend after setting up the course. Brice was Brian Version 2, but he's since moved on from that role.

i have a better idea. $5 adds one second to any competitor's time of your choosing. Kevin Allen will just have to try harder to dominate and this will infuse much needed funding into the program.

This would be fun it's kind of like mario kart with money instead of shells. Just limit how many seconds can be given/gotten.

LOL Son, I understand what you are saying,,,, !!!

Having done one rallycross, I have to say that an extra run for a novice will be more beneficial than to a seasoned rallycrosser. Just my $.02.

If the learning curve for rallycross remotely parallels that of autocross, it's harder for an experienced driver to shed tenths than someone that is learning more from each run due to lack of experience.

Have fun y'all! Wish I wasn't working in Charlotte this day as I'd love to check out the BMW farm.
