OK, I'm up for it if we can come up with an acceptable date
and we can find someone to be an event chair for it. BTW, April is not looking good for me, but I'm willing to do VP duties even if I can't make it. I sent Kevin a list of what needs to be done to make an event happen, and separated out the items that I thought could fall into the "event chair duties" category. FYI, the proposed event chair "to do" list looks like this:
- Come up with name for event.
- Send event info (name, date, location, times, fees, restrictions, etc) to Webmaster, announce on forum, thscc list. RallyX VP will assist.
- Set up work days (line up vols, equip, make sure it all happens- RallyX VP will assist).
- Line up registrar, tech inspector, timing workers, bus driver.
- Design course - RallyX VP will assist.
- Create course maps, worker maps, worker sign-up list.
- Create drivers meeting notes- RallyX VP can provide previous example.
- Set up course, pit, grid, paint course, etc.
IMO, we ought to try to be better about filling in the ruts quickly after events, while the soil's still damp, and to give it more time to settle in before we run on it again. It's been on my list to organize a work day shortly after each of our previous events, but so far
I haven't been free, and I didn't want to press others to come to a work day I couldn't be at myself.
Buying a new bushhog I think is also worth doing. I might think Kevin's mom would be willing to let us keep it at her house in return for letting her/Kevin use it whenever they want, but we should obviously verify that. If someone can provide me some suggestions on the best place to buy one, let me know and I can look into it.
Anything else?
