Man oh man, you missed a great course; Vincent would have been proud. We used fewer than half of our cones and part of that was used as we built a cone wall along the roadway and between the pit area and the end of the course.
Pete and I were completely disappointed, because we had set up a pretty interesting course with 3 crossovers, crisscrossing the upper field twice and the lower field once. Our Pirate themed rallycross was in the spirit of skull and CROSS-bones. We were playing with the "cross" part of the pirate flag with the many CROSSovers. (Given another chance, we may use that layout again.) We even rigged up a pirate flag on the Sentra on a whip mast (like the offroaders use). The black flag with skull and crossbones looked especially menacing on the Sentra, and was sure to intimidate our competition.
We used Pete as the guinea-pig to test the cone and gate variations, so he had the most fun of the setup group. I got in a run in both directions for a sanity check...and yes, the results showed that I am insane.
Thanks to Kourosh and Ray for helping with the setup and Jan Kokoszka and Eric Stegmann (correct me if I have your name wrong) for arriving just in time to help take the course down. We were all disappointed that the event was canceled after having it completely setup and tested.
You would have been proud of your rallycross VPs, Ray and Kourosh, as they desperately tried to negotiate with the track to allow us to go ahead with the event. However, as I write this it is pouring down rain and the track was already a little "moist" from rain earlier in the week.
