well, if things go as planned we'll have our race on sunday, BUT most most likely it wont be mowed because of the rain and the tractor getting stuck.

So we're seeing if anyone would like to come out tomorrow while we setup and give us a hand in mowing and/or setting up. Nothing too extreme, mainly mowing lines of sight, and if enough time/people we can mow extra areas.

in return we'll offer free fun runs after the race (or perhaps another race). AND you can see what it takes to chair an event, if you would like to chair one in the future.

so please reply here, pm Charlie or I, or email rally@thscc.com or rallycross@thscc.com.

The plan is for the bus to be at OCS around 2pm. and we'll stay for a few hours. some of you guys know the course and the typical setup, so if you get there early you can try to mow/cut lines that you think will help.

BTW, anything helps, weed wackers, those hand held blades or whatever.

thanks in advance.

Just to add details to Kourosh's post: The track attempted to mow earlier in the week but the tractor could not get around (too slick). The field may now be dry enough, but the person who mows for the track is not available before Sunday. I asked Kim (track manager) if we could evaluate the field on Saturday to see if the soil was dry enough for the event and she has agreed to meet us there for the final determination tomorrow. If the field is sufficiently dry for the event, we will need to mow a course wide enough to allow for some line variations and improved cone visibility.
We could use all of the help we can get because it will be hot and muggy and we don't want anyone passing out. If you could assist us it would be greatly appreciated. We "may" also need to run the course a couple of times at reduced speeds to verify safety and visibility.
Hoping you can come out,
Charlie Guthrie

The event chairs plus some helpers plan to be there around 3:00.

I wish I could help this time but I can't. :( I have a tractor with bush-hog, but it just broke down on Memorial day, I took it apart, and the fuel tank is out now to get cleaned. I'd bring my riding mower, but I have a family commitment that I need to be at with my wife and daughter.

For anyone considering mowing - I took my riding lawnmower to OCS before when the track's mower didn't do a great job, and I had no problem. So don't be afraid to use your own riding mower. I used a beat up 14.5hp Craftsman mower with 42-inch deck. It cut fine. If the grass is really tall, use the highest deck setting, and go slow enough that the engine isn't bogging. Then go back over the course again on a lower deck setting to get the grass as short as you want it. Not like everyone wouldn't know how that worked, so I don't know why I felt like I needed to explain that. :)

Send me a PM if I need to bring my riding mower early Sunday morning for any more work. I *am* able to fit it on my trailer with the Audi.

Alert!! Everyone say "thanks"
Bernie Baake has graciously volunteered to do some tractor mowing this morning. I am heading up to meet him at the track. Call for mowing status before heading out to help. Bernie has some other obligations today, so I'm not sure whether we will be totally done, so feel free to check up on us.
