Greetings from your friendly Rally-X staff. The official THSCC calendar has not been fully developed yet, but we wanted to give everyone the chance to do some long range planning. We have not listed the sites yet because we are not quite ready and we may be able to use a new site and we want to put all of our choices on the table first.
There are a few possible scheduling conflicts with other clubs (SCCA & NASA), but we have tried to minimize the conflicts and work around the other THSCC activities since we must share the bus and timing equipment. Some dates are listed with both weekend days because the actual day has not been determined. We would like your feedback regarding Saturday or Sunday preferences. (See Poll coming soon).

There are possibly a few open dates that could be renegotiated after the Autocross schedule is completed so if there are conflicts that would prevent you from participating please let us know. We really need everyone's participation this year to insure a 2011 season.

To make this a full season, we have scheduled 9 points events and one non-points event at the end of the year that could become a points event in the event that we have cancellations.
Your comments and assistance are always welcome. If you wish to chair an event please send an email to the Rally-X VPs (email contact on the THSCC Contacts Page).
Calendar:
Feb. 13/14
Mar. 20/21
Apr. 10/11
May 8
Jun. 5/6
Jul. 10/11
Aug. 7/8
Sept. 4/5
Oct. 2/3
Nov. 6/7 - non-points or make up points

There is the possibility of a drivers school on one weekend that we are considering in Mar. or Apr. If there is interest and volunteers. (See poll - coming soon)

Thanks RallyX staff for working on this and for getting it posted early!

I replied that I *prefer* Saturday events. I do like them better (to have an R&R day on Sunday before going back to work), but I'd attend them whether they are Sat or Sun.

Yes, thanks for getting this up so quickly. Many of us have things we work around.
For me I have two things I work around. My kid's travel soccer and my wife's once a month day to work on the weekend at the hospital. Usually it is on Saturday.
EVERY Saturday that she is working this year is one of the proposed rallycross dates! It is not as easy as finding a babysitter most of the time. Krissy (9) often travels for soccer on the weekends and if Helen is working, I have to take her.
So, while I voted that I preferred Saturdays, I could come to more events in my new rallycross car on Sunday.
Maybe I should just get Vincent to take Krissy to the soccer tournaments?

Maybe Walter could find another soccer mom/dad to cart Krissy around?

Sometimes for local games that is OK. A parent needs to be there for out of town games especially when it involves an overnight stay. If Krissy (9) got hurt and one of us wasn't there, it would be bad. At this level these games can get rough and Krissy is a year younger than the other girls.

She has moved up to Classic I, U-11, and our league games are in Raleigh (good), Burlington, Greensboro and beyond. We almost decided to a tournament in Atlanta! Richmond is about as far as I care to go.

She better get a nice scholarship!

The bottom line is Sundays will probably be better for me unless Helen can get on a different weekend schedule. Her current one matches the tentative rallycross one.

My wife just mentioned that Feb 14th is Valentines Day, and while she personally doesn't have a problem with me attending a RallyX that day, other wives/girlfriends might. I wonder if it might cause issues with attendance if we put it on the 14th?.

The way to find out if you are REALLY LOVED is to schedule an auto event on top of a prospective romantic event. If she really loves you, she'll let you accompany her to the rally-x . :D
We did discuss the possibilities of the February weekend and came to the conclusion that 1) most of the Valentines romantic stuff is scheduled around evening time, 2) Saturday was a possibility depending on the Poll responses, 3) other weekends were taken by other event conflicts, 4) we thought that we could hold a "sweetheart rally" where significant others were admitted free (I just made that one up, but we could entertain such an idea. That could seal or ruin a relationship).
We'll wait for other comments before choosing Sat or Sun. It is typically easier for the chairpersons to set up on a Saturday when it is early in the season because it gets dark so early on Friday. Later in the season it doesn't make as much difference. If we get a volunteer for the Feb event that wants to set up on Friday then the choice gets much easier. Hint, hint.
Regards,
Charlie Guthrie
