Any idea how far of a drive it is? I'm not sure my car would make it all the way to DC!

Looks like it is here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=,% ... WV%2025446

Looks like a 320 mile drive for me from Apex. Would definitely need to make that a weekend - could not do the drive to, event, and drive home in one day.

Here's a little info on their first event:
Washington D.C. Region SCCA - (RC)

March 14 WDCR RX#1

We expect a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 16 runs @ about 2 mins each for a registration fee of $60. Come prepared for a day outside with proper clothing, sunscreen and a hat. Food available on-site or pack a lunch.

On line registration closes Fri at 6pm. On site reg available for $70, closes PROMPTLY at 8:30 day of event. Come early to check in and get your car ready. SCCA Membership required, $5 Weekend Membership available on-site. Bring $5/check.

Wow, we run a bargain basement event compared to that entry fee. On the other hand, if (big IF) there were really 16 runs, that would really be worth the drive and camping.

On the other hand, the first THSCC rally-X is scheduled for Feb 13-14 weekend. It will probably be on Sunday Feb 14th.; and it's not too late to be the event chair!!!

Charlie - is the 2010 calendar published somewhere? I am eagerly awaiting to dates so I can try to plan the rest of my year around the RallyX events. :)

If not the whole THSCC calendar, then if you could post the RallyX dates in the RallyX forum (even if you just know the weekend, not the exact date), that would be great.

Hold tight.... we should be able to get some prelim dates up within the week, but need to get site arrangements worked out to be sure.

How about we get a group together and go up there for the Spring school/rallyx weekend, then take a can of whoopass with us to the National event?

The THSCC isn't associated with SCCA right? That pushes the cost of the entry up to $65 + $70 = $135.

Let's not brutalize the SCCA too much. They do have a $5 weekend membership rate so the event would be $60 (with advanced registration) + $5 (weekend membership) = $65.
Obviously THSCC may be the biggest bargain on the East Coast.
Now may be a good time to segue into a discussion of how to make the Rally-X program break even.
For those of you who did not know Curt Spitzner (multi-year THSCC President), let me say that I am proud to have used the word segue in this forum. The subtle segue was one of his finest skills.
