After the second 45 minute session this past Saturday, I discovered that I now have grooved front rotors. Mind you, these did not start out grooved.

Yesterday, I pulled the rotors and pads. I don't want to risk turning the rotors, so they are toast. The pads are grooved slightly too. No, I did not mic them.

So this weekend, I will be switching back to some of my spare PF-01 pads. I would like to have a backup set of race pads. I know this sounds crazy, but any opinions about grinding the grooved Raybestos smooth?

In an ideal world, I would order a new set of pads. But I don't think I can get them by Wednesday.

I'd probably rather just run the grooved pads during a practice session, go easy, and let them wear themselves in.

Karl's idea would probably work.


In the past, I have taken a file to a set of pads that glazed really badly. I don't see why that wouldn't work for you either.

But, I am far from a braking expert.
