So, I’m looking for recommendations for brake pads for the new to me mustang. I see that BHP is out of biz, so what’s the hot ticket for a set of street/autox pads. I’d like to just keep these installed on the car and not do the flip like I had been doing with the 328. Hawk HP+ still a decent pad to go with? What other choices are out there now that’s good for this car? Advice is appreciated!!
Rodney, check out the PBR/Axxis ULT / Ultimates (sold under some other names too, I think, some with wildly varying prices, though the compound is exactly the same). We're running these on the Miata now, and they've worked well for both Street, AX, and Malia has used them at both CMP and VIR-F with little to no fade. They have much better bite than the Hawk HPS's, but are very streetable as well - so in the same neighborhood as the HP+.
Obviously for a heavier car they probably wouldn't fare as well on track as they do with the Miata, but since you're targeting AX anyway, they should work well. They are also significantly cheaper than the Hawks. If you decide you want to check into these, send me a PM and I'll look up the place I just ordered a second set from - they were ~20/pair cheaper than most of the other places I found.
