First rule of doing anything car related -- don't read the instructions. My serpentine belt was making a slight squeak this morning, so the Einstein that I am decided to squirt a decent amount of belt dressing on it. Now it sounds like a strangling cat giving birth. What should I use to try to get this sticky crap off of it? I've tried acetone, isopropyl alcohol and soapy water so far, but as soon as they "burn" off, the hideous noise is back.

Any suggestions? WD-40?
