I am getting ready to move forward on some of my upgrades on the Miata. I have a set of Hawk HPS pads for front and rear, along with some stainless lines. Based on other threads, I should replace the rotors. Should I go with the plain undrilled/un-slotted OEM rotors, or a more high performance rotor that is slotted. I am not considering any drilled rotors. Just curious as to the brake set ups some of y'all use.

Support the Chinese economy and buy the CHEAPEST rotors you can find.

Matt Nicholson found some $8/ea rotors a few years back and they worked fine.

They are so damn cheap, just replace them when they break.

BFI sells Brembo blanks which are what I run; I got them simply because I was too lazy to drive all over creation pricechecking rotors. NAPA sell cheap chit too.

Slotted rotors are only good for separating fools from their money. And apparently are a wicked* good tool for doing so.

I will check with BFI on Monday. Carbotech has blanks as well. Wonder if they are any good, or it they are all essentially the same.

I've always ran just the cheapest rotors on my cars and when they warp, break or whatever I replace them.

Cheap rotor user here as well. They worked just fine on the RX-7 and they slowed the car down from 140+ mph time after time just fine.

NAPA is what I use. Cheap and reliable. Stock Miatas are not hard on rotors

Hi Jeb,

Just go to NAPA. They're $19.95 ea and work fine.

I run them on my track car with hard braking from 126 mph and they hold up amazingly well. For autox, they'll last years.

Advance and AutoZone want $50-$60 ea.

Another vote for Napa, I think they are $24 for the Mini, I have had one crack in all the events I have done.

Advance Auto carries solid Beck/Arnley (sp?) rotors for about the NAPA price. They have been great with both HT-10s and BHP CR pads.

But watch the prices. AA has quoted ~$55 per rotor vs ~$20 for NAPA

BFI was out of the Brembos and did not have access.

So I am going with the Napas. $16.99 for fronts and $22 for the rears.

Thanks for the advice and recommendations!

Yeah, in fact when I called BFI I beleive the fronts were less than the rears. I found it odd too.
