My throw out bearing has been making noise for a while now. My question is how do these things normally fail? Do they just stop working or do they grenade damaging other stuff?

Can't say I've seen one fail and take other stuff with it- but I suppose it's possible. I wouldn't worry about that so much.

It can self-destruct and leave the car disabled, but it will probably continue to make noise until you just can't stand it anymore and replace the clutch.

It has been making noise for almost six months and it recently started getting louder. I was hoping to put it off another month and just wondering if I should bite the bullet. Thanks Bret

I know it's a different car, but the one in my civic made noise for about six months as well. It went from just making noise to not engaging with little warning, maybe 100-200 miles.

Change it Marcus, why put off till tomorrow what you can do today. And yes it can destroy the clutch fork and the pressure plate. Besides leaving you stranded.
