Got this off the Corvette Forum from Dave Roush.
Please call MIKE or BOB at VILVEN to order you 710's @ 1-888-775-8646

Also according to Scotty White this is an all out race tire and you do not want to drive it to events. From the testing done the 710 is supposed to be 1/2 sec faster on a 25 sec AX course as tested by national caliber drivers in Corvettes. I assume he means 1/2 sec faster than a Victoracer.

Here is what they published for available sizes and prices:

Kumho Ecsta V710

205/50WR15
Blackwall Price: $133
Estimated Availability: 02/17/04

265/45WR16
Blackwall Price: $168

275/40WR17
Blackwall Price: $187

295/40WR17
Blackwall Price: $199

315/35WR17
Blackwall Price: $203

335/35WR17
Blackwall Price: $207

315/35WR18
Blackwall Price: $245

For Immediate Release
NEW TIRES ELIGIBLE FOR SOLO2 COMPETITION

TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 12, 2004) – The Sports Car Club of America, Inc. Technical Services Department announced today that both the Hoosier A3 S04 DOT tire and the Kumho Ecsta V710 DOT tire are eligible for several classes of Solo2 competition effective immediately.

SCCA Solo Technical Manager Doug Gill said the tires are now permitted for Solo2 competition in the Stock, Street Prepared and Street Modified classes after both styles of tire met requirements outlined in Section 13.3 of the 2004 SCCA National Solo Rulebook.

The tires will be allowed for the year’s first Solo Tour event at the Arizona Motorsports Park in Phoenix, Jan. 24. The first 2004 ProSolo event is slated for Atlanta, Ga., at the Gwinett County Fairgrounds, Feb. 14-15.

You can read all about Brian Priebe's eval of the 710 on the sccaforums. The link to the thread is below. Brian is an awesome driver and taught here at some of the Evolution/McKamey schools hosted by Tarheel years ago. I think he's the youngest driver to ever win a national championship.

The 710 will be good tires, but I would take everything that Brian Priebe, Scotty White, and Dave Schotz say with a grain of salt. The big reason? They're all contracted Kumho drivers. Yes, they don't pay a dime for their tires. Isn't it funny how last year's Hoosier A3S03 and this year's V710 look so similar?

My guess is the new A3S04 will still be faster:

My belated observations:

1) The A3S04s look a lot like the "Cheater Slick" my friend Barry Shuler had on his Schwinn Sting-Ray back in 1968......

2) For the Kumho tire, one size is too small, the rest won't fit under my fenders without a lot of snipping...

3) The next time we go to Dindwiddie:

4) It's time for a "Kumho V700 Gentlemen's Agreement" in ESP!

No problem with that here. V700's are cheaper!

They dont have a size for me to use either, plus I liked the fact that my V700 Victoracers lasted all season long last year, with a little Formula V help at the end. Hell I would run them at the TNT if I hadnt of broke my rim at the last event!

AFAIK, Randy Melton will still be on street tires, Kevin Butler bought a Miata, who else is left?

I talked to Randy last weekend and he's gearing up for this coming season. I know he's going for all the suspension goodies, but I'm sure race rubber won't be far behind.

Since V700's we've been running aren't broke we ain't gonna fix 'em. They are very cost effective as Ryan said and last a long time.

Come March we'll have a new set ready for battle with ya Art. :car:

Ryan,
You put WHAT on your tires at the last event? Oh yeah, that event didn't count, did it?

Art 50% Zylene and 50% Toluene has been known to work. If you want a cheap alternative that is. From what I've read formulas only make tires softer not better.

Legal until you grid the car, at that point it's water only.

Yep, nothing in the rules against it. It's a "restorative", which means it'll breathe life into hardened tires, but won't make it softer than it was originally. You apply over a period of 3-4 days prior to an event.

I have a problem getting heat into my tires early in a run, or in cool weather because my car is so light. I tried it out on my old Kumho's at the last points event at Sanford (the wet one). I was very pleased with the result. The tires started responding much earlier in the run.

I just ordered a gallon - $36 from Pegasus Racing - might find it cheaper ssomewhere else, but I didn't shop around.
