After a few events I have noticed my right knee hits the bottom of the steering wheel during quick H/T maneuvers. When I have a little more time this isn’t an issue because I turn my leg a bit to the inside, so clearance is very close and most times it’s ok. I figure a D steering wheel would make all the difference, or maybe just a smaller diameter.

Any Recommendations for a D wheel for a NA Miata?

Marty,

I bet you'd be happier with a slightly smaller dia. one.

Additionally, having riden with you at The Rock in Nov., your 'unique' steering wheel 'grip', or more to the point 'non-grip' wheel control technique may not lend itself to a D type wheel. ;)

Then again it might work just fine if you don't do much 'shuffle' steering, but I'm thinking you did.

Something to think about and perhaps check how it might work out before commiting.

Steve

Momo Trek is the wheel that I will buy in the coming months. The current wheel is shot and I have a twenty buck round Grant sitting on the dining room table waiting to install itself.

If you want something a little less pricey, rumor has it that Grant makes the wheels for APC. They have D's at Pep Boys; the Grant hub adapter works with these as well (you'll need the 3 bolt to five bolt adapter in addition to either #4545 or #3597 and a bench grinder).

Pics of the APC are here (not mine) http://public.fotki.com/relittle/miata/ ... t0011.html

I just installed the Grant wheel today. The instructions are ... vague, so it took over an hour instead of the twenty minutes that it should have taken.

I bought this wheel from this vendor, and got it shipped for under nineteen bucks. Pep Boyeeez in Garner had the appropriate hub adapter on the shelf for $20 (number 3597). It is only about an inch smaller diameter than the stocker, but it sits farther away from the driver. It makes ingress/egress easier, and I prefer the driving position that it affords. The only complaint is that due to my more erect posture in the driver's seat is that it cuts off the top of the speedo, tach and oil pressure gauge. If you sit back even one more notch, that is a non issue. Heel toe is easier now, even with my size 13s.

I doubt that I'll be getting the Momo now; this setup is pert near perfect.

Told ya! The Grant steering wheels dont have the "name" but are pretty damn good wheels. Especially when you can get one on your car for under $50

If you come by this weekend, take my car for a ride around the block and see if it suits your needs. Chris Brown and I will be in the garage, Bob Barker on down. Shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the offer. We are heading out on Friday though.

What's going on next weekend?

What about a lunch somewhere sometime.

along these same lines, where have people bought quick release adapters?
