I talked to a guy who autoxs in FL and says down there that they flip their V710 to get more wear out of them. Since it says on the sidewall which side goes out, does anyone know the up and down side of trying this? With Bernie and me both driving the Mini and doing about 3 AX per month, we're going through tires pretty quick.

Kumho Victoracers, V700's and Falken Azenis all have those markings. I've flipped all of these with no troubles. They won't last long enough to find out anyway. Go for it.

I'll have to agree with Vincent.

I spoke to the Yokohama tire rep about some of their old R-compounds and how they wore out much faster on the outside edge than the inside- he said "flip 'em"......I reminded him of the "this side out" markings and the directional arrows, but he said the tires would be fine. I flipped them and had no trouble- and I've also flipped Kumho's, Toyo's and BFG R1's without any problems.

I always start out with the tires in the proper orientation (this side out and rotational arrow), but as they wear, I'll rotate them on the car or flip them on the wheel to get the max wear out of them.

Unless you are cording the edges after 30 runs or so, it is pretty much a waste of time and money. We used to flip the Hoosier AS05's after 20 runs to prevent the cording on the edge.

Otherwise, you are spending time and money on tires that are heat cycled out and no amount of flipping, spinning or majic spells will bring them back to life :)

You can try some of the tire treatment stuff. Jim F treated some of the Hoosiers and it worked pretty well. Especially for local events. The stuff is not cheap though.

Tire treatments work

If anyone is serious about trying a treatment for a big event, let me know. I have a special secret sauce that works wonderfully and is readily available and fairly cheap. Trust me, it works!

Remember though, a tire treated is only good for a few runs before turning hard again. Of course, you could always re-treat it. :)

where are you getting your tires flipped at? I would like to find a place to mount/dismount tires for only $30.

BTW, flip em. I have done this several times with good success.

I go to Premium Imports on Wake Forest Rd. and they cut me a break. Maybe it's because I've spent over $3k with them on jobs I couldn't tackle over the last four years keeping my Honda's running.
