Guy's, I'm also looking. I like Running the Ra1's on my 95 M3 on Track. Fact is I hardly drive the car on the Street now. Maybe 10percent of the miles.

Trying to minimize the $hifting Bill?

I am leaning to the 615's as well but also heard Hankook and even Firestone Wide Oval will hold and hold up well on Track.

Does any have any experence with these? I know the 615's may overheat on Track on a heaver car (M3, vett).

I got a set of the FS WO just for street driving but will use them as a track rain tire. They're one of the few tires that come in matched front/rear sizes for the Z06. The price is good. On the street in dry or wet they work well.

I did my last session on Sunday at Road Atlanta on them because it looked like rain. It spit a little but no rain. The tires had less than 1K miles on them and were at full tread (10/32). So I got lots of tread squirm and squeeling. They were ok. I'd be curious how they work shaved to 4/32. Compared to the Goodyear Supercars I've been using. The side walls feel softer and I got less steering feedback. I also got a very light steering feel at speed down the long straight from T7 - T10A that I didn't care for at all... I suspect they will last quite a while though from the feedback I've gotten from others running them on C5s. I'll stick with my GY SC until I wear both sets out.

Coming from RA1 you might be dissapointed. I think you'd be better off trying the RT-615. I'm considering a set of those if Falken gets off their butt and releases the rear tire size that I need. Check with Mark Vitacco. If I remember right he got a set on his C4 and was going to run them.

Graham

Don't believe everything you hear about 615 overheating on the track. I have been using the 215 Azanis at the track for the last two years and have found that they don't get greasy if you keep the hot pressure at no more than 40 psi. The 215 heats up really quick compared to the RA1 and the pressure can get high quickly.

My car is a E36 325is which is just about as heavy as a M3.

I understand that the 615 handles the heat better than the 215. I just had Mark at Hubcap Heaven install a set a 615's so I'll see this weekend.

thanks Mitch and Graham, both have helpful info. I rode with Mark Vitacco on his first outing with his Vet on the 615's and he really likes them but does feel they may go away a bit by the end of a DE session. I"m running a E36 M3 so should be a bit lighter and may hold up good. I'll keep the 40psi in mind.

I have to keep telling my self that these need to be ready to run even if it rains. My RA1's are shaved though I'm one of those drivers that has found untill there's large standing water, R compunds will do very well.

I know the Hankook's are also cheap and though the size's aren't as good for the M3, wondered if they were any better or worse than the 615's in the Wet?

Thanks again,

Bill

My First weekend on the 615's pointed out a few things. They did surprisingly well for quite a while, much longer than than the 215's would hold up. I pushed them in the 3rd session of the HPDE and got them quite hot and they got greasy, but that was the first time all day. What I did notice is they HELD that heat a lot longer than the old 215's did. SO much so, that in the TT they went away fairly quickly.

After a good cooldown, they seamed to go back to normal.

Hey Mitch, how did the 615's work out on your E36? What did you run before?

Bill
