The pictures are generic and the same ones for most of the applications, so I wouldn't go by them.

Graham,

Can you also compare the weight of the replacement rotor to the stock rotor if you get a chance? I'm curious to see if they are even close.

Thanks, Chris

Chris,

I'm not getting a set from these guys at the moment. I already have a spare set of front rotors and pads so I'm good to go.

I asked on the forum and one of the guys had already weighed them on an accurate scale to compare to his stock rotors. They are 1/2lb lighter than his stockers. I'll assume that is from removed material from drill/slot. He did get the drilled/slotted ones.

So C5 rotors weights were:

Factory Rotors: Front 19 lbs Rear 14 lbs
Bendix Rotors: Front 18.5 Rear 13.5

If you have specific questions about your car just call them.

Graham

I only stumbled on this due to the Group Purchase on Corvette Forum. Some guys have received their sets but don't have many miles on them yet. They're getting 4 rotors cross drilled and slotted, zinc washed, with a set of Axxis Metalmaster pads and free shipping for $260. The rotors are Bendix (made in USA). So it's either the deal of the century or that company will have a lynch mob of a couple of hundred angry Vette owners after them. And if you think Scoobie owners can whine, get next to as many Corvette owners that got screwed by a vendor.

I'm going to give them a month or so and I'll get some feedback from the guys who have them. I'm just looking at blanks or slotted and no pads.

Graham

Graham or anyone - any feedback on the Wholesale Direct brake rotors yet?

Keith. At this point I would say don't order any from them. There has been a lot of noise on CF about people not getting their orders after a month. Some almost 2 months. Apparently this is a small company and they got overwhelmed by orders. There has been an ongoing pissing contest on CF about it. The ones that did get the early batches are happy with them. Most of those people got the drilled/slotted for the bling. The latest batches there are complaints about some being drilled close to or into the vanes. And people getting mismatched sets. Like 2 front left rotors instead of left/right.

I'm waiting to see if this all gets ironed out and these guys make good on all the orders and mistakes. If done right its a great deal. For now I'm sticking with my NAPA $26 specials since they'll just get burned up on the track anyway.

Graham

A few guys on IWSTI.com tried Wholesaledirect and did not have a good experience. This was to a lesser extent than what Graham shared from the corvette forum but it was still in line with what they were seeing. I'm considering their slotted rotors but will wait and see, like Graham suggested.

Call Carbotech as they are selling rotors now too.

A point to remember when thinking about turning vs replacing. Turning obviously makes the rotor thinner. If used on the track it will be more prone to warping. With a higher horsepower car which yours is I'd opt to buy new ones vs turning old ones UNLESS I rarely track it.

As for cheap rotors, I found that the REALLY cheap ones warp very quickly. For my Honda not a big deal as they are cheap all the way around but I'd question a huge delta in price. My guess is really cheap ones may be made in China from suspect materials.

Buyer beware.

FYI. The guy I sold my car to tried to order some rotors from Wholesaledirectparts.com. These guys never sent the rotors or refunded his money. Luckily his credit card company refunded his money.

Here is a link to the LA county BBB complaints against them.

Ron is right regarding Chinese rotors. For what it's worth, I stuck a cheap set on my SABLE last year. They were only, like $30 each. They went to hell in a hand-basket after only about 40,000 miles. That's 99.5% HIGHWAY miles. Total brake applications perhaps 100 :D

Anyway, the mode of failure appeared to be warping, but on closer inspection, these cheap-ass Chinese rotors had CRACKED in several adjacent ventilating webs!!!! They were fine when cold, but when heated up, both sides turned into potato chips. Weirdest thing I've ever seen :?

Replaced with Brembo OEM replacements, mfg'd in CANADA. Perfect after 20,000+.

when it comes to mazda3 rotors that is BY FAR the best deal I've found. Dealer was asking $75/rotor just for the rears. Best price I found before those guys was $245+shipping for all 4 rotors (my rears are worn beyond spec, haven't checked the fronts, but I'm pretty sure if the rears are gone the fronts will be too). I ended up ordering all 4 for $134+shipping=$174 shipped! We'll see how customer service is though, and how long it takes. . .
