Well, first thing first, I need to get seats for the Camaro. Cost is a factor as always. The basics are 34 inch waist and a 48 inch chest.

The ones I am considering:

Sparco Evo 2
Sparco Sprint
Corbeau FX1 or FX1 Pro or Forza
Cobra Monaco
Momo Cup Racing Seat <added>

Any other recommendations to look at? Other considerations? Input?

I found yesterday that the Sparco Sprint is one of the more comfortable fixed back seats for those of us with less than narrow heinies on miata.net.

Plop your butt into as many seats as possible before buying.

I would add the Forza II to your list as well. My 34" waist fits fine in the Forza's but the Forza II's were more comfortable due to more padding.

I'm looking into the same thing Jim. Not sure how much more room you have to work with in the Camaro vs the C5. But it is fairly limited for me.

Are you doing dedicated track seats for a trailer queen or do you also want to drive it on the street? I want street/autox/track. But I'll swap the seats for track events if I find what I want in price/fit.

The Sparco Evo II and Roadster will fit for me. But I like the Fighter model and think I can get brackets to make it fit right.

The Corbeau A4 fit for me. The A4 is not a fixed back and I can connect the factory 3-points. The Forza almost looks like the fixed back version of the A4.

Cheaper price you can look at Kirkey. They use aluminum frames and can be made to fit. They won't crack like some of the fiberglass seats.

Note: I found one person who has problems with the Sparco Roadster. Even though it is made to work with a 34" waist. He has a 34" waist but wide hips. It started chaffing his hips enough to make him want to ditch them. Something to keep in mind along with the torso measurements.

Where can one go to plop their ass in a race seat around here? I know the track store at VIR has some...you should call to see what models and sizes and it might be worth a ride up.

I think CV Racing Products sells seats, but again, that's quite a ride down to Thomasville. Where else? I'm guessing most of the places around Charlotte are going to have roundy-round stuff which wraps around you more that you probably want for this car.

Where else?

Hubcap Heaven has a few seats
K&E
Carolina Mustang has some
Autosport Gallery
The pit area of any HPDE generally has a lot of these seats installed in cars

And that seems to be the way I'm actually getting to try them out. And if you're lucky they're in the type of car you own. So you can find out how much of a pain they were to install the seat/brackets.

I'll be trying out at least 2 types this weekend :)

Ah, yes. The track crack pipe hooks another hapless victim 8)

Oh, yeah. Let's see...
Gotta get seats, suspension stuff, harnesses, gloves, take some weight out, etc., etc. The list is never-ending. :D

I know that in Showroom Stock you can run an alternate seat. I think that an SS car qualifies for Solo II Stock, doesn't it?

Sure, it probably does, but...

1) Jim isn't likely going to be putting in a full cage just yet.
2) His Camaro isn't eligible for showroom stock.

The 1LEs ran in SSGT, so can't he grandfather the car in using that? I don't know how national eligibility age for SS affects Solo II.

Just a question as I imagine bolting in a seat for a weekend track event is probably easier than going for a full SS prep.

Other than a few electricl connectors for the seatbelt light (and airbags on a modern car), is there any seat out there that isn't 4 bolts and done?

BMWs probably need a $437 special service tool.
