Ok, this is driving me nuts. I swear my protege has a mind of its own. It did this once b4 the new motor, and now several times afterwards. If you heat the car up nicely, under normal driving, then sit it on an uphill slope and let it cool off a bit (via the turbo timer), then let it shut off(again, via the turbo timer), the coolant goes crazy and starts boiling in the overflow tank like MAD, making the thing shake like crazy! if there's enough coolant in the overflow, it'll boil over and overflow from the tank, spraying coolant everywhichway. this seems to happen most frequenltly when I stop the car on an uphill slope (nose of the car pointing up the hill). anyone have any possible ideas why this might be happening? If you start the car once this has started happening, it ciruclates the coolant and the boiling ceases almost instantly. then if you shut it off again, it'll sometimes boil and sometimes it won't.
The car is a 2003 Mazdaspeed protege, with a new motor(same as b4, with forged internals for higher boost), and a regular protege radiator instead of the Mazdaspeed radiator. The differenced between the 2 are that the regular protege's is wider and thinner, and the MSP is narrower and much thicker.(makes room for the side-mount intercooler, which is no longer present). Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Intermittent problems drive me up the wall!
many thanks ahead of time,
