I have noticed that many people in the club have portable compressed air tanks that they use to fill tires at events. Where do ya'll typically get these tanks filled? Is is safe to assume that all who have portable tanks also have air compressors?

I have a compressor too, but you normally can find a gas station locally with an air pump. Occasionally, you can find one that is **free** too. It's a pretty sad world we live in these days  - AB

The gas station I normally go to has free air but it's currently broken. You can get about 20psi out of it

I haven't used mine yet, but I'll give it to my roommate to fill up at work. He's a tech at leith Acura. Their compressors are set to 90psi, and air is free :)

I've always filled mine from my compressor.

To the original questioner: the fill mechanism looks just like a tire valve, so anything that will pump up a tire will pump up your tank.

I like to have my tank at 100+ psi before I go anywhere. You guys that fill up at gas stations, what kind of pressures can you get?

I don't currently have a compressor. The problems I find with the 50 cent/free 'gas station' air is...

1. Rubber washer/gasket in nozzle is so hard it can't seal around valve.
2. Wimpy pump can't generate enough pressure to fill tank.

For Sanford and Laurinburg evens, I get air at the Exxon in Sanford (right next to the Hardees). It is free, their hose and nozzle is in good condition and it is high pressure (i.e. I can fill the tank to above 100 psi).

The BP just north of Old Stage on 401 in Garner just got their compressor working again. 95lbs for free. I'll see how that does this weekend
