Doug, I voted no, but there's a * with that.

There are a lot of choices in that price range, and it really comes down to how much discomfort you're willing to live with. You have FM, RB, Tein, Eibach, and numerous others. I think the FM springs are a little overpriced. However, they are most likely high quality, or they wouldn't put their name on them.

If you're going to the test and tune, talk to Brad Mackey about his Eibach/Tokico setup. He's been pretty successful with that combo.

I'm running Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and they're awesome, but those are a bit more coin...

2¢:

What I like about FM springs is that unlike the most of the other springs I've looked at, FM's are linear and not progressive.

Although Brad is no slouch on his Eibachs.

In hindsight, at 2¢ I overcharged.

David

Is my view on linear vs progressive skewed? FM springs have more coils on one end than the other-I thought this was progressive and linear would be constant coil spacing for the full spring. Is this wrong?

One other thing, I'd be getting these used with some other goodies, so I won't be paying FM prices. Any input given is welcome.

I voted no then read the rest of the thread. The more I race the more I realize that it's almost futile to attempt to use off the shelf choices on springs. It's worth every penny to either buy coil-overs or convert your existing shocks using the Ground Control kit. Having complete choice of rate and length is worth a lot and you _will_ change your mind more than once.

So the part where I change my no vote to a yes is if you're on a budget and got the FM springs as part of a batch of stuff -- dirt cheap and approaching the "standard" GC rates isn't something to throw away.

FM rates are 342f, 228r. GC rates are 375f, 250r

This is being sold as as set w/ KYB AGX struts and I can always add Moss Motorsports coilover sleeves later. I don't think there would be any significant difference between them and the GCs. Price is well under new.

Well my vote is officially changed then :D . At a bargain price and with the fairly high (for street at least) rates it's hard to go wrong.

I wonder which is wrong. The photo or the text.

From their site http://www.flyinmiata.com/:

Flyin`Miata springs

Exclusive to us! Linear design, spring rates are 342 lb./inch front and 228 lb./inch rear. This is designed to give you sharp handling and enough spring to keep your car off the bumpstops. Softer springs will often give a worse ride because they allow you to blow through your suspension travel and end up on the stops. Powdercoated.

How much will they lower your car? We can`t tell you, because Mazda changed the ride height of Miatas over the years. However, if you measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, your car will end up 12" - 12.5" in the front and 12.5" - 13" in the rear. Set of four. Not recommended with stock shocks - the higher spring rates are too much for stock shocks to handle.

Yeah I wondered about that. They should be here in a couple of weeks so I can look. Might call FM myself and ask them.

Neither, the progressive looking section at the ends will just bottom out and act as a spacer.

No clue why they do this, but my lowering springs do the same thing.

It's like building a bump stop into the springs!
