I searched and found a similar thread but it contained no pointers to shops.

Due to time constraints, I'd like to drive to a local shop and have them turn the rotors, install new pads (F&R), and bleed the brakes. I'll bring the brake pads and the Castrol SRF fluid. The local subie shop quoted $165/axle. Seems high since I'm bringing the materials. Any pointers to good, trustworthy, shops would be appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

EDIT: I should add that I have 4-pot brakes with two bleeders per, so the shop should be able to handle the bleeding in the correct manner.

turn rotor = $7 each at the garage next to Amoco in Four Oaks.

install pads, remove & reinstall rotors, bleed lines = $0 + test run at the garage on the south end of my house

just a suggestion...

:D

Hmmm, how far 'driving time' from Cary? Road test wouldn't include a tour through fields, would it?

The CarQuest Machine Shop on Germantown Road turns rotors for $12 each. That would be pretty close to Cary.

Tire King in RTP turned a set of rotors for me once. Charged $20. I paid cash and the counter guy handed the $20 to the tech who did the work. I guess it was an "off the books transaction" so I'm not sure if they actually offer the service.
You could always sneak in garage and offer the tech a twenty ....

Frank,

Did you carry the rotors in? Since time is my issue I'm looking for a one stop shop. Drive in, take the wheels off, get the rotor off, spin, install, etc.

Thanks, Chris

Quality Brake on West Chatham Street in Cary turns rotors for $10 each, and they are open on Saturday ('til 2 pm, I think?).

BTW, that's the "carry in" price. I have no idea what they'd charge to remove, replace, etc.

The CarQuest guys are there until 1 or 2 pm on Saturday - it's also a "carry-in" situation.
