Copied from Honda-tech.com

They're called the Azenis RT-615, and that is exactly what they look like. They uses light weight nylon sidewalls instead of steel (like the old azenis sport), and the tread compound is not supposed to get greasy when they heat like the sport does. The tech rep was telling me that they can be mounted with the large blocks on the inside of the rear rims to help produce oversteer for drifting or race tuning. They are aysemetrical and non directional, so you can rotate them front to back and side to side, and the sidewall is supposed to be as stiff (if not more) as the sport.

Yeah really! I was hoping for at least some 225's in the 16's. :(

BTW, does anyone know if you can get a 225 on a 6" wide wheel?

Ditto.

225-50-15 will be pretty tall on a Miata...I wonder what it'll do to performance.

Well first you are taking this from a hon-duh list, so subtract about 20% form any claims of size or hp

But I would be very surprised to see them go with a single, smaller 16" size. That doesn't make much sense.

And I think they are missing the bost bigtime still onthe 15's, if these sizes are right. What they, and every other tire company , need to make is a lower profile 15". Say a 205/45 or 40 15 , hell a 215/40/15 would be a perfect tire for almost every can that now runs the 205/50

Ditto on the 16" size issue.

But thumbs up on the potential reduced weight (nylong vs. steel sidewall inserts). The old ones were heavy!

Now, how much will they cost?!?!

A quick Google search of "Azenis RT-615" brought up a little info.

This is copied from a forum post that Google found. Looks to be a copy of a Falken Tire press release...

Falken Tire Corp. is proud to début the next generation of RT (race tuned) Spec Sport Radials for North America and the world. Derived from a motorsport lineage that begins with Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, the Super Taikyu Endurance Race Series, and world-class circuits around the globe; the World Spec Azenis RT-615 is poised to initiate the battle for Pure Sports domination. “The development of the RT-615 was spawned from the ever growing need for true motorsport level products without the inherent drawbacks of track dedicated R-Compound tires. As the OEM’s continue to focus more on attitudinal tire characteristics such as NVH (noise, vibration, harshness), the availability of unorthodox sports radials has become all but non-existent. Generally speaking, premium sports customers have been forced to choose between watered down versions of flagship summer tires and limited life cycle R-compound rubber. The World Spec Azenis RT-615 signals the rebirth of truly premium Pure Sports products for discriminating sports drivers.” The World Spec Azenis RT-615 incorporates the absolute latest in design philosophy and materials. “Every aspect of this project has focused on a single development objective. To create and launch a new genre of sports radials that have the credentials to attack authentic JDM brands like Yokohama Advan and Bridgestone Potenza. While we know these competitors may ultimately modify their specifications to meet US glass transition point compound standards, we are prepared to go head to head against the best in the world”. Prepare yourself for the World Spec Azenis RT-615. It will redefine the premium sports tire segment by creating an entirely new benchmark for Pure Sports performance. Falken Tire Corporation invites you to the 2004 SEMA debut of the Azenis RT-615 on Wednesday, November 3rd at 10AM. Booth number- 40327 Please contact Mary Pilcher (mpilcher@falkentire.com) at 800-723-2553 (282) for your personal invitation.

So apparently the SEMA show is going on right now (2nd - 5th) and that Falken had their "debut" of the new tire yesterday. So that might be the source of the info posted on Honda-Tech. The news blackout on this tire is apparently over. I would expect photos, more specs, etc. to show up soon.

The poster on Honda-Tech was AT SEMA and had a Falken brochure in hand.

The spy shot Vincent posted IS the new tire. There is some conjecture about not all the sizes being immediately available.

If you check out Honda-Tech, there is a pic of their new "show" car. A 1990 Civic Si with covers hiding the tires until its official intro to the public. Its all painted JDM yo mad tite style. Falken is hearing the outcry for this niche to be filled.

I just wish they would make a 13" Azenis
