Well, the fluid change went even better than anticipated.

I opted NOT to drop the pan since Toyota doesn't use a true filter in this transmission, it's just a metal screen to keep the big parts out of the transmission.

Otherwise I followed the steps above and put in 15 quarts of Mobil 1.

For what it's worth, the transmission shifts noticabally smoother and isn't make a funning noise with the high-load/high RPM shifts anymore. The truck also gets off the line quicker.

I figure at the 55,000 mile service I'll pull the pan and inspect the screen and magnets. That way if it looks really bad I can just get Toyota to put a new tranny in it for me under warranty.

I'm still thinking it's a good idea to add an inline filter.
