I just put FX1 seats in the BMW. I wouldn't recommend these for anything but a trailer queen. However, they are FANTASTIC on the track and autocross. I continuously think there is something wrong with my hubs, wheels, and tires because I can feel everything through the 5mm thick padding.

My legs fell asleep the one time I drove > 30 minutes in them on the street. I guess I disagree about the "make sure your race seats are comfortable" bit mentioned above. Cushioning comfort kind of goes against why to put in seats in the first place. I guess we should differentiate between luxury/sitting comfort and "proper fit" comfort.

I bought the FX1 for the feed back after using a Forza II on the drivers side for awhile. The Forza II was a little to comfortable.

I have the Sparco Evo's in my rally car. Comfy. I've certainly spent a whole day rallying in them, but I've also driven the car 7 hours to Tennessee several times.

I don't think any non-reclining seat is going to be as nice as an adjustable over that period of time, simply because you can't shift positions. For the Evo, it wasn't that the seat was uncomfortable, it was just that I can't move around very much.

Cheers,
Anders

So I sat in a Recaro Speed (almost identical to an SRD) last night at Auto Sport Gallery. Reclinable. GREAT support. Very comfortable. Very expensive. Is there really anything comparable for less, or do I have to spend the big $?

Did you pick it up?? The SRD's ain't light, almost the same weight as stock.

The FX1 would not be comfy on road trips, the seat has almost no padding. If you come over tonight or tommorow you can sit in it. I'm going to give it 1 more shot before I abort on them going into the WRX (the shoulder bolsters hit the B pillar)

The Sparco Evo2 is going to be the next seat I buy. They are VERY light and very comfy and $500 each. Mike King has some in his WRX and they rock. I'm not willing to drop the casho on them though. I decided against my ghetto passanger seat idea, so my car will be sporting a kirkey passenger seat for national events :)

Has anyone thought to buy a slightly larger than they really need seat (with minimal padding) and then use one of those foam seat insert kits? I have wondered if you could build an insert that is a tight fit for track/autocross use, but then for travel purposes (if you don't trailer the car) either use a looser insert with more padding or just sit on a pillow, etc.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The Sparco EVO is a really nice seat. I sat in one at Kraus & England, and they are priced around $500 each.

I have a set of Forza's that have only been mounted in the car, but not really used. I'm trying to decide if they're going to be put in the 240 or not. If I can fit one of them in the front seat of the truck, I'll bring it to the meeting tomorrow night.
