Ok, I've gone a bit crazy. I have bought a second old Porsche. This time a 2001 Boxster for the wife. Supposedly the OBC is there but the temp sensor has to be activated by some special Porsche voodoo, anybody know anybody that knows anything?

You need a dealer or service shop with a long memory -- or someone with the elusive "Porsche System Tool 2". (Or, I guess, one of the newer diag systems.)

Cline,

There are a number of Porsche forums out there that can help with tech questions. You may already know about this one, but I have had good luck with the Pelican Parts forums...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/

In addition to some good classified sections, they also have per car tech forums.

Regardless, I think Ricky is right regarding you needing it to be enabled via the PST2 (dealer?)

Richard

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

You should have bought her a car that was newer than the Bush Administration, Baller status in jeopardy.
