And how do you propose to do that? I'm thinking of a dedicated exercise program to see If I can accomplish this.

So I bought a 3-month practice pass (not lessons, only practice bay access) at GolfTec good thru Feb 3. They use slow mo cameras for instant Down-the-line and face-on frame by frame video review, and I could quickly see myself start to lose the spine angle soon after transitioning to the downswing, combined with an impressive loss of clubhead lag into the impact position. Early extension robs power and clubhead speed as you lose the mechanical advantage from the double pendulum effect of the golf swing. Fixing early extension can be achieved with a few drills, but also by increasing core strength and improving flexibility in hip flexors and hamstrings to keep the spine angle intact and drive the legs and lower body through the swing. These two areas (along with some speed training to help recruit fast twitch fibers) will help get my swing speed back.

One of the golf pros where I play is TPI certified so I think I will get a performance evaluation and see if I am on the right path. I currently swing the driver at about 95 mph, so it should not be that hard to add 10 mph....right? :roll:

I hear there is a PGA certified exercise guru at ECU that will give you a specific program based on your strengths and weaknesses. It is amazing what a difference the core strength has in the swing. One thing I have been working on is making sure my left heel comes of the ground in the back swing. Been playing for 40 years and never did that, I always felt I was swinging out of my shoes by doing that. I think I have picked up 15-20 yards on my drives. I am not doing it on irons right now, my driving range is closed down while the course is being rebuilt so I can't work on it much right now.

I wonder if PGA certified = TPI certified? One of the big orthopedics practices here in Raleigh has a TPI-certified physical therapist as part of their sports rehab department. Pretty smart move for the golfers who come in complaining of neck/back pain.

Could be. You hit the nail on the head though about hip flexors. I have been working on that the past couple of years and the lower back pain I've always had is gone!

The last time I had a lesson from a Golf Pro, he said my biggest problem was I was standing too close to the ball after I hit it. :D

Lexus hasn't had a motor in it for 2 months now, the interior is ready to have stuff put back into it, though:

Got a bit of work on the Miata that I'll hopefully start soon now that I'm on vacation.

Got a new Megasquirt to put on the car, this one plug and play so I can actually troubleshoot if something goes awry
Get the car inspected one last time while it's still street legal
Remove emissions, put my old intake back on and get it dyno'd
Finish welding up a center console to mount the kill switch/gauges and switches
Remove the rear end and have a 4.77 R&P installed
Get some "new" SM7s ordered to get me through comp school
Get another set of 15x9s for said SM7s
Get a cool suit cooler built and mounted
Possibly play around with spring rates, I do a lot of inside tire spinning on T1 at VIR even with a LSD. I'd imagine that going to a 4.77 (from 4.3) isn't going to help this. I'm at 600/375 now, I think I'll need to go to around 1000/400. I'll need new shocks before that though.
Ballast & corner balance
Get a logbook

A month before comp school and I finally started on this list. Most of what I did on it was move things around though.

Since there isn't a DE between last season and this season I decided to leave the car in it's current far too slow state so I have high confidence of getting through comp school without any issues. I'm going to try and tackle the following items between now and March 20th.

Finish welding up a center console to mount the kill switch/gauges and switches
Get some "new" SM7s ordered to get me through comp school
Ballast & corner balance
Get a logbook

These items will likely happen between comp school and our VIR DE.

Got a new Megasquirt to put on the car, this one plug and play so I can actually troubleshoot if something goes awry
Remove emissions, put my old intake back on and get it dyno'd
Remove the rear end and have a 4.77 R&P installed
Get a cool suit cooler built and mounted

After that I'll likely look at making major suspension changes.

I already got the tires ordered, I'm about 1/2 done with the center console work.

I still need to figure out what I'm going to do for ballast. I'd still like to find someone to inspect the Miata, but there isn't a cat in the car anymore (no code somehow) and it has a healthy dose of 'looks like race car' now.

Annual Tech is next weekend and the HPDE @ VIR is early April.

Here's the to-do list:
Oil sender leak - DONE
Temp sender leak - DONE
Intake air filter bracket - DONE
New clutch slave cylinder - DONE
Change rear swaybar - DONE
Back off camber to -2deg
New vinyl numbers and stripes - DONE
Wide angle rearview mirror - DONE
Helmet hook
GoPro Mount
New fender flares - DONE
New brake pads - DONE

Making progress:

VK doesn't think I have enough tire yet, so these flares should give me room for more. :mrgreen:

Love playing with vinyl:

That's looking really sharp Cash.

Finally had a week as far as the car goes.

* Attached the face of the console to the structure
* Welded the center console to the car
* Wired up the kill switch
* Drilled most of the inspection holes in the cage
* Removed the wheel lock. Saw a lot of effortfull stuff on the Internet on how to do this one. I just removed the ignition then hit the locking pin with a chisel till it broke off.
* Attached a wide rear view mirror
* Mostly mounted the fire extinguisher
* Removed the passenger safety equipment

Image

Winding down on what needs to be finished to get a logbook for this thing.

* Cut off one of the NASCAR bar to chassis reinforcements on the passenger side.
* Drill an inspection hole on each rearward brace.
* Finish mounting the fire extinguisher. I've got all the holes drilled and hardware selected. Just need to jack the car up so I can get to the nuts in the trans tunnel.
* Wire up the transponder

I also planned out most of the electrical for this car. Once I get the Megasquirt back in the car there is a TON of wiring I'll no longer need.

Looking good Cash, but I have something that needs to be added to your to-do list:

Paint 4-post lift :mrgreen:

That thing looks like it was left outside in Boston or something. :stick:

I am very pedestrian compared to everyone else. :(

I am doing some deep maintenance on 2005 Civic I bought for my daughter...

* Timing Belt
* Water Pump
* Belt Tensioner
* Coolant flush
* New thermostat
* Rebuilt Power Steering Pump and fluid (old pump was on way out)
* Rebuilt Alternator (Old was good, but I snapped off the stud for the electrical connector deep in the housing when I was removing it to get at other stuff)
* New A/C compressor (no A/C when I bought it, gamble on putting in new compressor)
* Bought A/C manifold gauge set as well as two stage A/C vacuum pump, so will try out doing my own purge and refill myself.
* Drier for A/C
* Various A/C seals
* Adjust valves
* New spark plugs
* Replace leaky oil pan gasket
* New front brake pads and rear shoes (maybe front rotors)
* Brake fluid flush

Much of the engine work is done. At the point of adjusting valves and putting accessories back on now and then onto fluids, etc.

I do have a Porsche 915 transmission (used in late 70's 911) I am rebuilding for someone right now and he is adding a Wavetrac diff and various other component upgrades so that is a fun non-stock rebuild project.

Which taillights are you "updating to"?
