I think most of the people use either Harry's Lap Timer (iOS) or RaceChrono (Android).

I'm using the TrackAddict app on the iphone connected via Bluetooth to a GoPoint BT1 OBDII dongle to get vehicle speed, RPM, Throttle Position (up to 12 configurable channels). Video and Data overlays are then edited in RaceRender.

This. Cheap, easy, configurable. The BT dongle is probably better than the wifi one from PLX devices that I use. It will also record Gforces and show a track map, if desired. Racerender is one of the easiest video/data software packages out there. (Edit: by that, i mean to say I figured it out immediately, with no problems, on the first try. Therefore, if i can do it, anyone can.)

I've got the android phone via verizon. I've down loaded race chrono and playing w/ that. Does the pro version support the BT dongle?

Rodney - SoloStorm seems to be pretty popular if your budget allows getting a good gps module rather than using the phone's gps. Video from the phone or from a GoPro. See the website and email the owner Mike Marich http://www.petreldata.com/ Note that Mike lives in Vancouver, BC.

I use it "casually" with my Race Technology DL1 but Mike appears to be working very closely with Seattle based RaceCapture.
