My F350 is seriously lacking in headlight usefulness. Is there something I can do to modernize the lights i have?

Vk, not trying to stir the pot, BUT, I would be kind of insulted that Steve would not got to the Muhammad of Lights (who resides on a mountain in Elm City) with this question.

Seriously, I bought a an HID upgrade kit for my BMW bike I'm sure there are plenty of those out there.

I had every intention of deferring to "The King of Bling" before I made my final decision...........

Yeh, I found those already. Everything I see on the internet seems to be bling more than useful lights and junk mostly.

Are the original ones sealed beams?

See if you can put some E codes in there.

2004. Fairly sure they are sealed beam. Sounds like I need to talk to VK.

Not a sealed beam unit. You can get new housings from Rock Auto for less than $30 each. I'll bet half the problem is the lenses are cloudy. The other half is lighting technology has come a long way, and you can't compare your F-350's lighting to your X5's.

BTW, those 'ricer' projector lenses are much better than what you have...if properly designed. I'm pretty sure your X5 uses projectors for the low beams as do many cars these days. They produce a flat top beam which has an almost razor like cut-off.

Steve, would it be simpler to just add some additional, auxiliary lights? You wouldn't have to muck around with HID conversion in your stock headlights, which often produce weird light patterns anyway. And you wouldn't have to put any silly looking Projector Yo eBay nonsense on it either.

The headlights on my Mercedes are fairly lousy by modern standards too, so I might follow this thread. My wife's BMW doesn't even have HIDs on it, and her base headlights are orders of magnitude better than the Merc's. And I've upgraded the Merc to some fancy Philips bulbs, too.

Oh, and one more thing - make sure your stock headlights are aimed properly. Mine were off after the paint job, and although I'm still tweaking the setup, aiming them did help quite a bit.
