Anyone have some experience with this?

http://www.evanscooling.com

Snake oil? Technological Breakthrough? Somewhere inbetween?

The reason I ask is that I have a secret "rice boy" desire to go to a front mount intercooler. Front Mounts + HPDE + 90* Weather = OVERHEATED DSM!!! :x I know GRM is doing a tech article on it and am interested in how it does on their mullet mobile, err Mustang. Im just too impatient for next months issue :)

TIA!

The GRM article is already out....I've already read it. The article seems positive. The coolant works by maintaining better contact with hot spots in the cooling system. I think the evans stuff is based on good science so I think it falls into the non-snake oil catagory.

The question I've got is do you have cooling issues because the boost levels you would run with the front mount or does it get too hot because the front mount blocks the radiator?

Ryan It's not a secret anymore

The evans cooling system also works under lower pressure than does water. It seems to be simply a better fluid for cooling. I skimmed the article but didn't remember what the environmental effects of switching over were, and also what you have to do to convert.

Essentially the fluid resists vaporization within the cooling system over hot spots in the engine. However, if fluid is going from liquid to vapor, it's still absorbing quite alot of heat energy over that conversion. Even moreso when it's in a pressurized environment. I'd like to see more tests of it's effectiveness I'm not totally convinced. I have the article Ryan I'll bring it over to you.

I have read the first article on it in GRM, thats where I got the idea. I really want to see their results from using it.

Im not running higher boost at track events yet, I dont have the skills to motivate the stock boost levels now! Yeah the front mount blocks alot of air going into the radiator. Plus with the front mount the path is FMIC -> AC Condensor -> Radiator. So the radiator gets the short end of the stick.

I guess I just need to give in, jump to Street Mod and cut a hole in the hood for a vent (ala EVO 8). ) Or I just may take my crumpled hood, straighten it out a bit more and use it for track only :) It wont be pretty but it will work!
