I recently put at set of these on our Fit. So far so good. We've been through a downpour in them and had no issues. Pretty decent dry grip in our 109HP beast. Can't speak to longevity.

I've had both the ASX and DZ101's, both decent tires. Got at least 30k out of them. Both got pretty loud after 15k miles or so.

I run bridgestone potenza mud and snow on my wrx, surprisingly, I run 16 inch tires stock. 17s are upgrade for wrx, which is autocross tires. The potenza is good for mud, snow, gravel, grass, wet , not good for dry performance. But since really pushing hte wrx on street means going waaaay too fast, i dont mind.Gravel can chew tires up, so I have been happy with these tires. They make a wrx unstoppable weather car, but not good for pavement.

The Tire Rack is showing a Kumho Solus I hadn't seen yesterday.

Ratings are 440, AA, and A. It's a "Grand Touring All-Season" tire. Anyone use this?

I'd like to thank everyone who chimed in to help.
I eventually decided on the Kumho Solus KH16. 440,AA,A

So far, so good.
I assume they don't grip like what I had before, but they don't feel any different than the previous tires.

My cars all got inspected last month, and they all passed, but the inspector tells me the Evo X will need new tires soon...

This is NCs 3rd snow of the season, right?

So, it turns out that bald summer tires suck in the snow, even if you have an Evo. :?

I looked on tirerack.com to see what they have for my 2008 Evolution X.

I'm looking at "Ultra-High Performance All-Season" tires, and so far my top choice is the Sumitomo HTR A/S P01. Treadwear 360, $105 each.

Does anyone have any experience with this tire? Or any other recommendations for my 3600 lb daily driver?

I have a set of Sumo HTR that came with the wheels that I purchased as a package from America Muscle. Not very happy w/ them. Ride is good, but feedback sucks. If it were me, I'd buy the conti DWS tires. You get what you pay for. I've learned that cheaping out on tires is NOT a good idea since you're stuck w/ them for about 40k miles.

The Continentals with Treadwear 540?

OK, so the Sumitomos are out...
Any idea about the Bridgestone Potenza RE970?

I have a set of DWS on our Protégé 5. They are holding up well for daily driving and have reasonable grip for spirited street play, but they are very vague in feedback when pushed. I keep them pumped up to 45-50 lbs. for reasonable feel and the still wear evenly.

Jordan, are you seeing any wear issues running that high? Brad at Digital Chassis recommended running my DWS on the sedan at 40psi to prevent shoulder wear.

+1 for the DWSes especially this time of year.

No, they are wearing well. Traction while threshold braking is less than what it was at lower pressures, but still within reason for street driving. I thought I would have to drop the pressure for the snow, but they pull right through it no problem.

Good to hear on the traction without dropping the pressures. The first thing I did last snow was bleed down to 20 all around.

Slightly ironic, there's a stranded E46 M3 at the end of my road on 3/4 tread 18" DWSes. Probably not an easy car to drive in compacted snow on any tire though.

In the snow FWD > RWD IMHO. Better yet, snow sucks period.

I'm looking again today, and the Tire Rack is showing a lot of Ultra-High-Performance All Season tires I don't remember from last time. (Demand has dropped off, hasn't it?)

Continental DWS are on sale for $176/each
Treadwear 540 A A.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position is on sale for $171/each.
400 AA A

Kumho Ecsta 4X $134/each
420 AA A

Dunlop SP Sport $155/each
420 AA A

It sounds like the Continental DWS is a good choice, but does anyone have experience with these other tires?

It turns out I also need my tires to ride nice, which probably means low-ish pressures.

I've made a couple of trips to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area where I'm going to move, and the roads are crap. :(

If you're going to run with the DWSes, do it soon as they're on special because they are being discontinued. The new version is very similar by I can't recall the name. They are very comfy, even at 38-40psi in daily driving conditions.

I tried reading Tire Rack reviews as a tie-breaker, and there are a lot of good reviews and high survey ratings for the Hankook Ventus S1 noble 2. 500 AA A.

I'm also seeing good reviews for the Pirelli P-Zero Nero, 400 AA A. (OMG I'm actually considering Pirellis)

...And the Dunlop SP Sport, 420 AA A, and one reviewer specifically says it has better steering response than the Pirellis.

I'm going to start work soon, and I'm less intimidated by price now, and the Yokohama S.4 looks good. 400 AA A.

Does anyone here have experience with these tires?
