The extra weight helps it rotate I guess.

You should see (and hear) Marcus' sweet single outlet, setup that probably shed 40 pounds instead of adding it like I'm doing.

BTW, does anybody in the triangle sell redline off the shelf?

I've heard 'about' it, but haven't actually 'heard' it. I'd have to say I've never really heard a 4-banger than sounded what I would call 'good'.

Come to think of it, I can't think of any that really sound good either and that includes the rumbly Subarus. Let's just say it sounds 'functional' in a cool way.

Tom at Autosport Gallery probably has some in stock I'd bet.

I made this a few years ago for transmissions and diffs (though with the civic/miata you can use a funnel with some 5/16" vinyl tubing from the engine bay to get to the tranny):

Zach, what are you putting in the diff? The sk2 diff only holds a measly .8 qts or something like that. Given the s2k has a TBD diff, which is not hard on oil nor does it require special friction modifiers, it is best to run a robust oil in the diff. I'm thinking a miss of 110 weight and 90 weight or possibly straight 110 weight (Amsoil 75w110). We get that stuff pretty hot an an autox :).

They show Autozone, Advance, O'Reilly and Carquest as Redline retailers, but they are fairly hit and miss on what flavors they carry.

As far as the first three go, my experience is that it means they carry the Water Wetter....and that's about it.

Water wetter and maybe FI SI-1 is maybe the only thing you'll find at off the shelf auto part stores. Not tranny/diff/engine oil redline products.

I've been running either OEM Honda fluid (not the CRV stuff though!) or Mobil1 90W gear oil. I change it every ~10K, so I could probably use olive oil. ;) I'll probably switch to Redline now since it's so damn smooth in the transmission.

I tend to get my Redline from Carolina Mustang in Cary. Just don't tell them you're not putting it in a Ford... they don't like that.

These guys usually have MTL, MT-90 and a few other Redline products in stock.

When was the last time you were there? The "late model" business is closed. The older model business is on its last legs afaik.

Yep, and they have terrible hours (8-4 M-F). They locked the door in my face with 5min till closing one time. But they have MTL/MT90/75w90 and maybe 5/10w30 engine oil.
