Hey Guys,

91 Integra
Working on getting the chumpcar ready for the cage install next week and we have everything pulled out of the interior. I was going to drive it onto the trailer but it won't start. It cranks over fine. My guess is that it will not run without the instrument cluster in it? I'm going to pull the cluster from the dash today but wanted to see what you guys thought.

Thanks!!!!
-Scott

Yeah, as I recall we ran into the same issue - cluster required.

I don't think we ever tried to run it with no cluster (since we already knew it's required) but be aware that the speedometer cable MUST be attached, or else some strange running behavior results.

Also, there's a start relay in the center console that has to be retained in the wiring harness. If you've gutted the car, there's a chance you tossed it.

Good info guys. Thanks!

Mike, I'll double check the relay thing as well. We kept everything but I don't remember putting that back into the car before we tried to start it.

Looks awesome now without glass and the doors prepped!!

BTW, car ran 12 hours last weekend. We had some issues but otherwise it was a blast to drive. The super crappy, 3 different brand, maypop tires didn't lend itself to reasonable laptimes but I loved the way the car handled.

I guess that depends on the model year? Our speedo has never worked so we just detached the cable from the tranny.

Hmm, must be a Honduh thing, I know BMW's will start and run without the cluster. :stick: :stick:

And, props for using "speedo" and "tranny" in the same post, made me smile.

My Z-24 won't start w/o the cluster either. The cluster holds the anti-theft code and is progammed to match the VIN. I had to switch clusters when the speedo stopped working and it had to be re-programmed before the car would start.
