Yes. There is a write up somewhere on Miata.net on how to do it. That should give you a start on the design.

It probably holds better than the motive universal one you are talking about borrowing. Frankly, its kind of a piece of shit. When I used it on the element, it was leaking all over the place.

Are brake fluid reservoir caps air tight? I'd guess not otherwise there would be a vacuum created as the volume of fluid goes down as pads wear.

I was thinking of making a cap for the Hondas. Might be able to modify an OEM cap to make it airtight though.

Yes. Look in the bottom of your cap and you should see a rubber seal that is designed to extend as the level of the fluid changes.

I attempted what you're describing once - I think it was on my Honda Pilot IIRC - and it failed miserably, resulting in a lot of wasted time. I bought a spare OEM Honda cap for the reservoir, drilled a hole in the center and installed/sealed the proper sized fitting for the hose from the Motive tank, only to find the cap wouldn't hold enough pressure to transfer brake fluid. Problem was the reservoir cap did not thread onto the reservoir, it was held only by two small opposing tabs, allowing the OEM (thin plastic) cap to flex inbetween those tabs as pressure was applied from the Motive unit. In short, if your reservoir cap threads onto the reservoir, this approach should work fine; otherwise, the Motive universal "cap" is the only reasonable option, at least based on my experience.

Honestly, that's what I thought would be the case given that when you 'thread' a Honda cap on, it just slides into the groves on the tabs and lightly 'clicks'. I couldn't imaging that holding much pressure.

The Mazda cap actually screws on. However the Z-24 and Mustang caps only turn 90 degrees as there are two tabs on the Motive cap that captures the ones on the reservoir.

I still think you could come up with *something* that is better than using their universal cap with the chains. Maybe I should build something and sell it to the Honda crowd?

Only if it has LEDs, and VTAK/JDM stickers on it? :)

Don't beat yourself up Brice  .

Found some interesting DIY adapters in this thread:

Haha. Odyclub.com. I have an Odyssey, so I am on there sometime and have my own DIY thread on how to replace the rear LCA when the bushing/bolt is rusted. Who would think that mini-van owners would be such DIY guys!
