I miss that cartridge style from my e46. What can't they all be that simple?

Yeah, the Si is a real pita and if you use ramps you pretty much have to wedge yourself between the ramp, tire and rocker panel and reach backwards to get the filter wrench on. The parts fellow at Honda told me you just need to douce the subframe and surrounding parts in brake cleaner to clean up the oil. :? Spraying brake cleaner all over the rubber boot just doesn't seem like a good idea.

I have used a home made disposable "form a funnel" ever since the first oil change on a 97 Mustang (early 98). A newspaper section folded and stuffed as needed with cheap paper towel as a backup. Not always reliable since it can be easy to bump lose but "functional". I'm glad to hear that someone finally invented a durable version!

The Form-a-funnel is actually $0.01 cheaper. I think I might go that direction just because it would have other uses and looks like it would do a better job. That Honda one still gets oil on the half shaft and is good for only one purpose. I doesn't even look to me like it would do any good at all on my b-series.

I do similar on my wife's Odyssey van, but just with paper towels. It has a vertical oil filter that is directly over the subframe rail, so if you just let it drain, oil leaks all over the frame and runs down it to places you can't get to. I inevitably bump the paper towel setup and it bends wrong and oil starts going the wrong direction. :cryin:

I'm going to get the form a funnel. Looks like it will also be nice to put under the PS reservoir when I have to drain it to flush the PS fluid. Thanks for posting this James!

Somehow I don't recall this being a problem with my first two cars, which featured an engine / underhood layout like this:
