This little Golf is a fun little car to drive, but there is one feature that's got to go, the door autolock. All doors lock when you hit 15mph and that's not so bad. What sucks is this thing will auto lock while sitting still and not running. I can unlock the door via the remote and if I don't open the door it will auto lock on me and if I do open the door and don't shut it, it still auto locks the doors. Now I'm paranoid as hell I'm going to leave the keys in the car and then I'm screwed.

From what I've read on line, you need a VAG-com to reprogam the car to kill this feature. Not sure what this is, but does anyone have one or can you tell me how to kill this feature? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm sure the guys at Black Forest (Adam Ligon) can disable it for you for a few bucks.

Might be able to ask nice at the dealer too, but my success rate of them doing things like this for free is near 0%

Rodney, the easiest way for you to fix your problem is to fix the thread title. Let me help.

99 Golf.... MUST DIE!!!

Yeah, that should take care of it. The easiest way to fix any VW I've ever owned was to slap a for sale sign on it. Looking out the window to see it missing from the driveway was quite therapeutic.

I asked my cousin George McDonald, who runs the Ace Hardware in Apex (plug, plug), for his advice regarding your predicament. He recommended the following solution, which is both comprehensive and elegant in its simplicity.

This might sound like a stupid question... and I mean no offense by it Rodney... but have you read the owner's manual?

I think my race car does this, just will lock unexlpained. Fortunately it doesn't have window so I don't have to drive to APex Hardware.
