I want to get a lightweight helmet so I came here since there are so many lightweight thinkers ... no wait ... that's not right. Anyway, what has caught your eye as far as a good, light helmet for the money?

Matthew, I forget what model it is, but Keith Vail has a Simpson that struck me as being very light. He told me it was pretty well priced, too, but I forget the number. You might want to shoot him a PM.

For me, I currently wear an Impact Racing "Charger," and I absolutely love it. It's about average weight, I guess, hard to say since mine has ISAAC cleats and radio wiring. There's just something about it that makes it really comfortable, and it has held up very well, inside and out. I'll certainly look at Impacts again when I need a new helmet.

I have the same helmet as Keith bought and it was half price at $299. We picked it up at SafeRacer.com. The helmet is very light and comfortable. The problem is that it’s snell 2005. It was old stock that they wanted to get rid of and it’s no longer carried on their site. The other advantage that it had is that it was thinner on top than most other helmets. If you’re tall, that helps.
