It's time to replace my original 325 clutch after 105k miles and 7+ years of service. While technically still drivable it's not HPDE worthy.

I've seen clutch "kits" on TC Kline and Pelican parts for about $280, but Pelican also has a kit with lots of extra hardware pieces for $450 ish. I want to stick with stock or at least a stock-like setup because for a 95% stock car trying to "upgrade" isn't worth the money. I also was perfectly happy with the original operation until it started slipping at autocrosses.

Can I reuse my original dual mass flywheel by resurfacing it?
Are there any special adjustments I need to make?
What else do I need to replace while this thing is apart and how much disassembly is required?

I just finished my 944 clutch job before deployment so this is gluttony for punishment but I want this thing to be ready for HPDE duty.

I won't be able to check on here after today for a couple weeks but please post if you have some advice.
Thanks

Ash

i can't really offer anything other than while you are in there replace all wear items. no point in opening the damn thing up again in six months.

honestly, OEM replacement parts are probably fine.

Not sure you'd need all of those extra bits in Pelican's "Super" clutch kit. It would be nice to have them handy just in case you need them, but the only "extra" pieces I would replace besides the 3 piece clutch kit would be the pressure plate bolts, flywheel bolts and clutch pivot pin.

Everything else I would inspect and reuse or replace as needed. I can't see replacing the clutch slave cyl just because it comes in the super clutch kit for example, and I wouldn't touch the crank seal or the other seals (tranny output shaft, shifter shaft, etc) unless they show evidence of leaking.

i agree with Bret, get a standard kit and add a pivot pin just in case. they can wear down or brake and you dont want to end up waiting another week for a $5 part. also i would remove the clutch delay valve while your at it. they cause the clutch to slip unnecessarily

I started looking into the clutch for replacement in the E46. I never did the job but as I understand it you can get rid of the SAC (which sucks) by going to E36 M3 parts. Maybe there was some special flywheel selection, can't remember.

I'm sure Google can help you out.
