I know Toyota and Mazda both have programs for amateur racing where you get discounted prices on parts and upgrades. I looked into the mazda site but you need a specific car/motor picked out.

I'm not anywhere near jumping ship from Honda, but depending on how much of a savings on parts, I may start changing my long term plans.

So I'll get to my point. I'd like to know what other vehicle manufacturers out there have a similar program and I'd also like to know what I can expect from them. I've heard rumors that you can get complete, new engines for not much more than you'd pay for a rebuilt engine, stories like that.

Anyway, Honda doesn't offer anything like this, at least I'm not aware of it. I don't have a lot of money in the car at the moment, so it would be nice to know more about these programs. Let's face it, my crx with 186k miles only has about another 30k-50k in her :)

Phil... some prices (off the top of my head so they may just be close) for MazdaSpeed (used to be Mazda Comp)...

November 2002 - Brand Spanking New 1.6L Long Block $1800 + shipping. About $2000 total. (Boy does this thing pull better than the old motor did, even before it was all busted.)

October 2003 - Rear brake rotors and pads for 1995 car - ~$110 shipped. I asked at the dealer, just for kicks... One rear rotor at was $60... Now that's savings.

February 2004 - Left Front Fender - $115 shipped. Could have gotten an non-OEM one for ~$80, but I didn't want to deal with fitment issues, and possible legality issues with the SM car.

Hope that helps.

Diane
