In case anyone hadn't noticed, my Miata is *loud*

I'd rather not cut the exhaust up (it's a single-piece catback system) -

anyone had any luck with exhaust tip inserts like this:
http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/VIB1184.htm

Or maybe a glasspack exhaust tip like this:

 - I bet that would be louder than whistle-tips when you stand on it.

Kent, the "shorty" exhaust I bought for the STi came with one of these inserts. I will put the exhaust on this weekend for a test fit and could let you know how it works. - AB

I had one for the now departed 240sx, works like a champ. Do you have a muffler that will fit, if so that should work.

I'd also look on ebay for the same thing at half the price.

Kendt,
The one I use on the Mini is very similar to this. It works great. With it, I can actually hear the radio or the phone. Downside=the car doesn't sound nearly as good. Got mine @ Remco in Roxboro (guy's name is Jon). Bernie welded a small rod across the inside for a grab handle so that I can remove it w/o scratching it, or burning myself when it's hot. Check it out at Jimmy V if you'd like.

By the way, I'm sure I paid much less than that.
