I've seen the snake decoys work really well before. You might also try an owl decoy. Those are the easiest to try.

Speaking of fox urine, I have a problem with Raccoons getting in my trash. Somebody said human urine would keep them away. I want to verify this before I start going out between my driveway and my elderly woman neighbors house and start peeing on a routine basis. I can see it now "But officer, I'm just trying to scare off raccoons." Thoughts?

Pee in a bottle inside the house. Carry bottle to trash area.

Thanks again for all the good info.

Once y'all made me realize the squirrel(s) are probably inside my attic, as opposed to hanging out on my rooftop, I decided to call the company I have a contract with for termite inspections and treatment, and it turns out they have a wildlife expert on staff that specializes in getting rid of squirrels. He came to my house and confirmed squirrel activity in my attic, found where they're getting in/out (a gap in the roof that's been there since the house was built in 1998), explained what's involved with getting rid of them, and was very open to me taking care of this myself. Considering the cost, I was tempted, but my fear of falling 20+ feet off a ladder was enough to decide the better of it and hire him on the spot. He set 3 traps on my roof yesterday and brought in 2 more traps this morning. One squirrel was trapped when he arrived this morning, and he'll continue checking the traps every weekday until all invaders are caught, which is likely to take up to a couple weeks. Once they're all evacuated, he will cover the gap in my roof with flashing to complete the job. One year warranty is included, hopefully I won't need it.

Squirrels are always multiplying worse than rabbits and looking for unocupied feeding grounds so they will quickly repopulate an area when others have been removed. I'd highly suggest a pellet rifle, inexpensive, safe to have around the house, powerful enough to do the job and not illegal to discharge near a dwelling. One benefit is that squirrels are delicious, especially this time of the year, so it's a green solution with a sustainable source of high quality protein.

I think you made a wise decision and think it will work for this group of squirrels. Hopefully, the repairs will keep new squirrels out.

Be thankful you don't have raccoons in your attic. I had one have babies in a space off the attic inside an outside wall in an old house. I had to take boards off the house to get to the babies. First, I caught the mom in a trap and she was really pissed off. I had to give her lead poisoning with a .22 between the eyes.

I gave the babies to one of my redneck friends who used them to train coon dogs. No, the dogs didn't kill the raccoons. He let them go when they got aggressive.
