The game was released yesterday. I only played it for a few hours last night, so don't have a strong impression just yet. It is nice to see more tracks than before. Of interest is the inclusion of the Circuit de la Sarthe (used for Le Mans 24). It has three versions. The track as it exists today with chicanes along Mulsanne straight, one without the chicanes and the shorter Bugatti track.

Anyone else play online? My gamertag is "Method X". Send me a friend request.

Sorry, I keep get may "Le Mons" and "Le Mans" backwards. I edited my post above to correct.

I was already reading online that people are having issues with the online play , but I haven't tried online just it yet so I don't know what exactly they are taking about.

Having seen some of the commercials on TV for the new driving games, I like what I see. What's the best bang for the buck? I like the fact that the new games have you driving in the correct position and not driving from the roof or trunk of the car. I also like the fact you have a nice virtual dash and steering wheel in front of you now.

I don't have any gaming system right now, but considering the price drops, I'm highly inclined to ask Santa to drop one off at the house. Also which is the better of the new driving games. I'd like one w/ some freedom and different scenarios and not just forcing you to stay on some track.

My son has a WII and I like the games on that as well. Any serious driving games for that system?

What's a good source to review games?

I got it yesterday and played it for about an hour yesterday evening. My first impression is that the physics are more realistic and the graphics are a big improvement (not that Forza 2 was bad in either department). I have not tried Live yet either. So far I am very happy with the whole game.

I asked this last year and heard "NO" but I was thinking about looking again. Since the last game I had before the wii was the original Pong (and I am not kidding) I would probably be easier to satisfy than the average forum user.

Rodney,

I don't think the Wii will have the HP to do a serious driving game. Especially if you consider the state of the art of console driving games as provided by Sony and MS. In general driving games fall into two categories... Simulation and Arcade. You sometimes have some the blur the line a bit.

On the simulation side Forza is it for Xbox. There are others that are pretty good, but generally Forza is considered to be the best for Xbox 360. I can't speak to PS3, but I would assume it would be Grand Turismo.

Personally, I am generally impressed with the physics of Forza. It also exposes a lot of the internals via a telemetry system. You can see tire temps, contact patches, suspension movement, etc.

On the PC there are solutions such as iRacer. However I have yet to jump into iRacer.

Richard

I looked but couldn't find anything serious for the Wii. I do have Need for Speed ProStreet, but its hardly realistic. The graphics are good for the Wii, but they've tweaked the driving simulation to make it easy-- around a tight corner you can visibly see and feel the car slow down when you didn't hit the brakes in order to not have the car fly off the track.

So many cars and tracks it can't fit on 1 disc. So they put it on another disc and you load it up the first time you play the game.

This game is pretty damn good. Physics are MUCH improved, graphics are good and lots of good tracks.

If it could read Blu-ray discs, then it'd fit on one. . . .

Agreed. However, I believe MS is trying to keep the hardware cost down as low as possible. So they don't want to pay extra fees to Sony for licensing plus the extra cost for BR drive.

While I would personally like MS to add BR (mostly so it can act as a BR DVD player), the solution for the two disk Forza game seems to work well. Basically it copies the second disk to the hard drive. So as the game needs the extra content it just pulls from the hard drive. MS added a nice feature awhile back in that you can copy an entire game to the HD and it can load faster vs. having to play off the DVD the entire time.

What MS does however is rips you off for the higher capacity HD. I can't remember the cost, but the 120 GB HD that they offer has a VERY high $ per GB ratio.
