So we are casually looking for some acreage with a decent house. We aren't that serious yet so it's not worth hiring a realtor yet. Does anyone know of a good MLS site that will cover many of the independent and national agencies and has a good search so we can put in a set of criteria?

It's been 4 years since we were looking, but I always found myself looking on http://www.hpw.com - at the time they had one of the best search capabilities and provided the most property information. The site has been updated and still looks like it's pretty good, but not sure how it compares "these days".

If you know the general area, http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=raleigh&mrt=realestate&sll=35.779735,-78.643386&sspn=1.058395,1.528473&ie=UTF8&z=12 google maps does some aggregation. The listing options you can set are pretty limited, though.
