Very ironic post for me...
We've been hit at my store with some spyware virus and have been instructed to use Firefox (just downloaded 3.5 on all desktops) starting immediately until the 'antivirus disk' makes it down from our corporate office. One thing I like is that it carried over all the favorites, so that's a plus.
My computer fixing capabilities are very limited. It took several aggravating hours to reinstall XP on my home PC with the help of Dell tech support overseas and that's about the extent of my fix-it skills.
So, that being said, does a simple anti-virus disk have the capability to fix a sick computer?

i'll just throw this out there, my company (and by that i mean "me") does small business IT services, feel free to give us (me) a call if you'd rather turn the IT bullsh-t to a team of professionals (me). we (i) do at three or four windows reinstalls a month, often more. it's called a nuke and pave
in fact i'm typing this from a client site as i'm about to kick off a N&P on a very sick laptop. just another day at the office...
