Anyone have a good source for factory service manuals? I'm in need (want) of one for a 2001 Mazda Tribute

Any ideas? Let me specify... I don't want a Chilton or Haynes if I can help it... generally way too vague

Thanks!!
Stacy

Check your owners manual, there is usually info in there on how to order service manuals. If not try your dealer's parts dept to see if they can order you one.
There is basically one publisher that publishes almost all the service manuals for all the manufacturers. I forgot who it is, sorry, but try googling service manuals +automobiles or +Mazda.

Will try that...

Yeah, did that and all I got were Chilton and Haynes... covers 6 years worth of the Tribute.

I think Chuck's talking about Helm. While they do make a lot of them, I would be looking into finding the Ford Escape version, for it will be exactly the same and likely more readily available.

Try this: Link

Stacy, try Helm. I don't see one specific to the Tribute, but they've got stuff for the Ford Escape, which is the same thing:

What's wrong with it? My Mom has a Ford Escape. She's had basically no trouble out of it, apart from a brake booster that slowly started to leak.

I think wheel bearings may need replacing... wondering about doing it myself. We got the car from my Mom... they think it's just tire noise, but I'm not convinced. The noise starts early (like at 20 mph.) The tires are new, and somewhat aggressive tread pattern for the car, but I dunno.

Plus, I figure I'll need it for something along the way as we put more miles on it.

I'll check the Ford Escape routes too thanks!!

Yes, Helm is who I was thinking of. Go to their website they have all the manuals they print listed.

Took a chance on an eBay factory service manual... $60 shipped... so we'll see how that works out

Thanks!

Stack, tech the car just like you would for a yearly tech on the wheels rock them back and forth from the top of the tire while the car is on the ground or jack it up and check for play in the wheel. Front bearings on the miata and the protege are easy to change not so with the rears. don't know if that will equate to your moms tribute.
