sounds simple enough to me... just make the car 5" wider. Pontiac used to say "wider is better". Note really sure what was wider or what was better but that is what they said. Or you could just take the easy route and get another hoop but where's the challenge in that?

Always here to help with another great idea if needed.

Wouldn't it be easer to cut holes in the sides so the bar car stick out. That's gotta be easier than widdening the whole car.

Good Idea. You could put wheels on the bottom to prevent a rollover like they do for Consumer Reports with the SUVs.

VK did you TIG weld your pedal covers? I ask because those look like individual TIG style puddles vs. continuous MIG weld.

Nope, it's MIG...but thanks for the compliment! The 'stack of dimes' look on the weld is from the technique used, not the machine/process. You can do the same with a SMAW (stick welder) with enough practice.

I am not sure how you did that unless you are doing a bunch of short welds (which I don't think are optimal). If you are doing it another way (such as forward and backward motion while welding), I am curious to hear how you are doing that.

I use the weave or zig-zag/back and forth technique (definitely NOT a bunch of short welds), but small circles will give the same effect. All my welds are done this way. If you just drag the gun straight along the joint it will not look like this.

No it might be easier to try and mount the bar where the guy who built it, intended it to be mounted

Stay tuned

zig-zag, weaves, small circles, etc. are the way to go.

Diagonally is how the pipe I hit you with will be positioned :) The bar is designed to sit where your thighs would be in the back seat, we thought it would be where your feet would rest

I have got to join a LeMons team next year. This all looks like too much fun.
