I talked to Morris earlier today. He sent a little info on them. Looks like theyare getting good reviews.

Well, finally got around to washing it after last weekend's track event.

I was amazed at the amount of tire worms and scuff marks the car had. Luckily looks like almost everything same off. But boy did it take a while.

I hear you. After washing two sets of rims, my driveway looks like the outside of T1 with all the rubber marbles and worms.

In case someone asks. Yes, Marty just passed me, I'm not catching him. See what being lower and sticky tires can do for you, or maybe it's the driver. LOL

Nice work Marty. Fuel injection or carburated?

I had better see a license plate on that so you I can wave to you on 751 in the mornings. BTW, my other car is a red E36 M3, so I'm also the other guy waving to you in the mornings.

And to think I get in enough trouble with 99 horse pressure on the track.

So you think on the back straight at VIR, 150-160mph? Gulp.

I finally figured it was you about the 5th time you passed me in the M3. I'm smart that way.

OH, and I didn see you pass while I was getting gas this morning, I was just too late to wave.

The car is F/I. While it is light, it's about as aero as a brick turned sideways. My guess on VIR back straight is going to be about 130-135.

The car is going to need a few things before I can get a plate. It needs headlights, turn signals, plate holder and maybe a few other tweeks. I will be tapping into Don's knowledge to help me get it there.

Might have found my GT2 engine, actually it found me. I can use this one while not running in the spec series. It's a Ford Racing AFR 331 Stroker. The owner says it dyno'd 378 RWHP and 407 RWTQ.

Talked to the gentleman yesterday just for kicks. He only wants $2800 for the engine with one season on it. In truth I haven't even learned how the cars drives now, much less with another 150 HP added to it. But it's a really good deal.

There are a few things holding back on this.

1) Budget - Just bought a car, do I need another engine at this time? Not to mention explaining this to the wife.
2) Trans - While Road racing is a lot gentler on a trans that drag or general abuse, this still maybe pushing a stock T5.
3) Spec - With this engine I will be unable to run in the spec FFR series, but I have been told by others it's one of the best setups to run in GT2
4) Install - Supposidly a 331 stroker should be a drop in, bit I have learned over the years that no engine except the original is a "drop in".

1-b is the biggest problem. I have been successful stressing that what ever I am spending on is a safety issue. Thats how I got my latest car because of the cage. Tell here the current motor might cause you to be rearended my faster cars.

I bet your old engine would "drop right into" my Miata. :D

http://www.monstermiata.com/Monster_V8_Kit.asp

Do you know what year the 5.0 is? I think 'legally' it has to be newer than the car year ('92) and it will pass inspection. But we all know what the pre-ODBII inspection is like in NC.

Would that take me out of CSP?

lol,
I looked at a few "Monster" miatas before deciding on the FFR.

Well,
I decided NOT to buy the GT2 engine. I have too many things to figure out on the car as is. A big one is why the brakes aren't up to par and I need to corner weight and Bias the car to my weight.

just got a few new pictures from a friend who was at the last event. I think this one is great:

Image

I am going to start pulling the car a part tomorrow to:
1) Check the braking system
2) Learn nore about the chassis and suspension
3) Install the new Data logging system

Should I post picts here, or maybe even in a new thread?

Keep it in the same thread. The quiet lurkers like me are enjoying this thread. It's still very on topic compared to some of the tangents we head out on...

well, I think I now know why the toe was off. While nutting and bolting the car I found out one of the upper control arm adjustment lock nuts was loose on each wheel.

Image

it was the one in lower right hand corner.

Now I need to have the whole alignment checked again.

So I found out my brakes aren't quite as iffy as I thought. Turns out I was going faster than I estimated with out knowing the gear ratios. In the miata I could tell how fast I was going by the sounds and feelings with in 1-2 MPH. I need to learn this car as well plus get better about spacial relationships outside the vehicle.

Back to the topic of the car, the ratios are quite tall.

5-speed T5 (1991-93)FZZR-7003-AA with Prospeed rear (2.73) Gear (ratio) vs Speed (MPH) with 245/40/17 (24.71)
