Gunnar Racing (Kevin Jeannette and his team) are restoring a 917 (David Piper's car from 1970 Le Man) and are posting progress on Kevin's Blog as well as YouTube videos of them doing work on the car. The videos are a great way to see how professionals work. If you watch the videos, Kevin drops all kinds of interesting details in conversation. Examples are...

* The ball-joint hinge for the doors are the same used for the throttle linkage.
* The heavy duty u-joints used in the axles are from a German tractor.
* The hardware used to hold the rear body work to the frame is an old ski boot binding that is no longer made.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Done next week, I'm told. Decals were supposed to go on last night. Well, that's to roller status. Getting to running status is going to be a LONG time from now, unfortunately. That's a winter project at best. But she'll be purty with no drivetrain! :)

Cool. I can't wait to see pictures of it. Who's doing the drive train? Farnbacher?

I'm not sure yet. I already have the motor core and a 930 gearbox and a MoTeC at Speedwerks, but they've been so slow on my Spyder that there's no way I can use them.
