New toy - 2006 Honda CB600F aka 599

Yesterday I brought home a 2006 Honda CB600F (599) w/ 4500 miles, blissfully bone stock (my preference). What an amazing bike for the money, I'm thrilled at the value I got. I have been perusing craigslist weekly since I sold my 85 CB700SC 2 years ago. Wanted a BMW but they are out of my price range... Then I was heading back down the 90's or 80's Honda route when I discovered that I could get a bike TWENTY YEARS newer for about a grand more than a decent vintage bike, and with lower miles too.

I'm still amazed at how much the 599 has depreciated. The prices MUST be near the bottom now. Any other bikes out there selling for 1/2 MSRP after 2 years? I can't think of any... $7400 -> $3400 in 2 years. I feel bad for the original owner.

No more regrets about selling my old bike any more -- took a 50 mile ride last night -- I had forgotten how much fun a nimble naked bike is to ride. This one's a keeper. Great to see Honda keeps dabbling in the UJM concept.

PS - Jim Pastorius, if you're reading this ... I have a feeling you have seen this bike before ?

As soon as I saw the pictures, I recognized the bike :-)

It is a fun bike to ride and has been very well maintained by the two previous owners.

Nice find Mike!

I picked up an 09 Ninja 250 in February just to have. Figured since I've never been legal on a bike I might as well take the plunge. After I take the test, I'll move up into the 500-750cc range to give Jen a little bit of a scare.

awsome cline, When do you find time? I have a bike that has been sitting for the better part of 2 years that needs to be ridden. do you trailer out, or ride it out to the mnts? Let me know when you start going out again... any plan's for march?

I have been riding casually for 15 years -- mostly urban and commuting when life permits -- but I have never actually made a dedicated trip out to the twisties just to ride. I'm looking forward to it. Track events have lost their glory for me but I'm getting an adrenaline rush thinking about how to best not kill myself on 2 wheels

I think the good thing about the motorcycle is you get a combination of adrenaline rush and relaxation depending on your pace and scenery. My wife and I rode (she was the pillion wouldn't ride her bike this far) to the mountains of WV last year. She insisted on getting a head set, I was a bit worried about that, turns out it was great. Since she rides a little bit she knew when to be silent and when she could talk. We had a great time. I think if I had to give up all my hobbies except one it would be the motorcycle that made the cut.

I often wonder it I would be happier doing that. There is a lot of freedom in it, you don't have to wait for a track event, costs way less, can combine it with other activities, etc. Crap, anybody want to buy a track Mini?

Looks like fun. Let me know if your intersted in the same types of roads, but only a day trip (a very long day trip). and I can show you some other roads.
